A method is described for selecting a treatment additive for aqueous systems, in which crystal habit modification properties are prioritized; for aqueously preparing a substantially poly-maleic additive through in-situ formation of maleic acid copolymer so that mono-carboxylic acids, non-ionic functional groups, and terminal hydroxyl groups are also formed during polymerization; and for applying such additives for treatment of aqueous systems. Treatment agents resulting from these processes are also described.

Treatment of aqueous systems

Hybrid dendrite copolymer compositions include a hybrid dendrite copolymer including at least one ethylenically unsaturated first monomer, at least one second ethylenically unsaturated second monomer and a naturally derived hydroxyl containing chain transfer agent as an end group. The at least one first and second ethylenically unsaturated monomers are on separate side chains of the naturally derived hydroxyl containing chain transfer agent. Methods of preparing a hybrid dendrite copolymer are also included.

Hybrid dendrite copolymers, compositions thereof and methods for producing the same

Alternative inhibitors that offer an improvement over tolyltriazole in inhibiting yellow metal corrosion. The dithiocarbamate compounds and their salts were compared to that of tolyltriazole under identical conditions. These comparative tests were conducted in common corrosion testing systems, using both electrochemical corrosion cells and pilot cooling rigs, using various water conditions. The test methods included electrochemical studies such as linear polarization resistance, open circuit potential versus time, Tafel and cyclic polarization.
