According to an embodiment, a controller of a communications network includes a processor that creates a monitoring set of battery chargers by placing a set of battery chargers in a monitoring mode. The processor performs multiple iterations of a multiple-charging source (MCS) detection process. Each multiple iteration of the MCS detection process includes creating an active one of the monitoring set of battery chargers by placing one of the monitoring set of battery chargers in an active state in which the active one of the monitoring set of battery chargers attempts to charge any battery to which the active one of the monitoring set of battery chargers is connected; and logging an error event based at least in part on at least one of the monitoring set of battery chargers detecting charging activity on any battery to which the monitoring set of battery chargers is connected.

Detecting multiple chargers coupled to the same battery

A tool for performing diagnostics on a fire detection system includes an induction coil which includes two halves that may be selectively opened and closed to surround a wire in the system and sense current through the wire. A diagnostic module and a conduit provide communication of data of the sensed current between the induction coil and the diagnostic module. The diagnostic module is configured to decode the data to interpret communications sent through the wire.

Fire detection system diagnostic systems and methods

An electrical shut-off device () is provided and includes a housing (), first and second inputs () and an output disposed on the housing, a transmission/reception (T/R) module () coupled to the first input, an input device () coupled to the second input, an electrical device coupled to the output and a processor (). The processor is in signal communication with the T/R module, the input device and the electrical device via the first and second inputs and the output, respectively. The processor is configured to issue an instruction via the T/R module and to take an action relative to the electrical device responsive to a signal being received by the T/R module and to take an additional action in accordance with an actuation state of the input device.

A carbon monoxide gas detection and warning system for a portable phone device is disclosed which includes a phone case dimensioned and configured to receive a portable phone device, the phone case having a raised outer shell portion that includes at least one sensing port communicating with a corresponding sensing chamber formed within a wall of the shell, and a sensing circuit embedded in the shell of the phone case, the sensing circuit including a carbon monoxide sensor operatively associated with the sensing chamber of the at least one sensing port for generating a gas detection signal upon detecting the presence of carbon monoxide gas in the sensing chamber, and a controller for receiving the gas detection signal from the carbon monoxide sensor and for periodically sending an output signal to the portable phone device by way of a wireless transmitter.
