Several methods are described herein to allow users to manage and synchronize views in a multi-user application with canvas (infinite or otherwise) and limited or unlimited zoom. Without these synchronization methods, coordinating views is very difficult, and may lead to chaos as one or more of the users gets lost on the canvas. A 'View Sync' method provides for many-to-one synchronization, where many users are automatically synchronized with one user. A 'Sync View' method provides for one-to-one synchronization, where one user is synchronized to another user's view. Preferably, off-screen &#x201c;activity indicators&#x201d; also are used within the viewport to provide visual cues regarding where other users are drawing or creating content on the canvas. Tapping on an activity indicator preferably performs one-time Sync View with the selected other user.

Managing and synchronizing views in multi-user application with a canvas

Methods and apparatus implementing techniques useful in variable printing. A technique for rendering reusable objects and other objects includes rendering the reusable objects, storing the resulting raster data in a cache, and then rendering and compositing a print area by painting the reusable objects and the other objects in paint order into a frame buffer. The reusable objects are read and composited from the cache and the other objects are rendered directly into the frame buffer as needed. The raster data resulting from reusable objects can include data specifying which pixels are transparent. The reusable objects can include two objects overlapping each other on the print area. The technique can include providing multiple integrated rasterizer-compositors, assigning a rasterizer-compositor to render each of the reusable objects, and assigning a rasterizer-compositor to render the print area. Apparatus can include an integrated rasterizer-compositor module to render page description language reusable objects into raster data reusable objects and causing the raster data to be stored in a cache, and to composite page reusable objects and other objects into a frame buffer by rendering and compositing other objects into the frame buffer on the fly. Apparatus can also include a scheduler to receive from an input stream description identifying the objects required for a print area, the required objects being either reusable objects or not; to cause only the reusable objects to be rendered and stored in a cache before being used; and to cause the print area to be composited.

Integrated rendering and compositing in variable printing

A method for imposing and rendering image data. The method formatting the image data for a surface of a media sheet in an output device space and including receiving one or more page description files defining one or more objects to be located on the surface of the media sheet, receiving a job ticket defining a layout of the objects on the surface in a sheet-defined space. Prior to ripping, the layout of the objects is transformed into output device space including rotation or translation of the objects. The objects are ripped creating raster data that is oriented in output device space. The raster data is blitted in blocks without shifting the raster data.

Imposition in a raster image processor

A method of processing page description data for printing on a printing device having a print engine for printing on an output media. The method includes receiving page description data comprising objects to be placed on the output media where each object has a position on the output media. An area to be printed on the output media is divided into a first and subsequent bands. The objects are interpreted one object at a time to produce display list data. When all objects that intersect the first band have been interpreted, display list data for the first band is rendered without regard to whether objects or portions of objects in subsequent bands have been interpreted.
