A concentrator ( ) coupled to a wired network ( ) also acts as a master device relative to each of a plurality of ad hoc wireless communication networks ( ), thereby permitting wireless communication devices in the ad hoc networks to access the wired network. The concentrator utilizes antenna array processing and beamforming techniques when communicating with the devices of the various networks, in order to advantageously reduce communication interference between the networks.

Concentrator for coupling local wireless networks to a wired network

A motion controlled cradle including a rocking assembly adapted to rock the cradle upon the receipt of an activation signal. Further provided is an motion sensor adapted to transmit a motion signal upon the detection of motion of the small child within the cradle. Next provided is a mechanism for transmitting an activation signal to the rocking assembly upon the receipt of the motion signal. Finally, a tape player is connected to the means. The tape player is adapted to play a tape upon the receipt of the activation signal.

A transparent telephone access system using voice authorization includes a method and system (30 and 60) to protect against the unauthorized use of telephone network (20). By receiving a spoken telephone number (14) from telephone unit (16) and recognizing the spoken phrase that corresponds to telephone number (24), the method and system permit transmission through telephone network (20) to telephone (22). The method and system record spoken phrase (14) in voice recognition server system (18). For the spoken phrase, a voice-template is formed and compared with a voice template formed from a composed phrase including pre-existing or stored spoken digits. In response to the comparison, use of telephone system (16) through telephone network (20) is permitted.

Transparent telephone access system using voice authorization

A method and system are provided for configuring a telephone (10). A connection (20) is formed between the telephone (10) and a telephone environment (60). A list of services offerable through at least one type of telephone environment is generated (100). A list of candidate procedures for establishing each listed service through the telephone environment is generated (102). Ones of the listed procedures are executed (104) to determine whether each listed service is supported by the connection (20).

System and method for configuring a telephone

A method and system are provided for configuring a telephone (10). A connection (20) is formed between the telephone (10) and a telephone environment (60). A list of services offerable through the telephone environment is generated (100). At least one of the listed procedures is executed (104) for each listed service to determine whether the listed service is supported by the connection (20).

A low cost speech recognition system generates frames of received speech having binary feature components. The received speech frames are compared with reference templates, and error values representing the difference between the received speech and the reference templates are generated. At the end of an utterance, if one template resulted in a sufficiently small error value, the word represented by that template is selected as the recognized word.

Low cost speech recognition system and method

Speech recognition is improved using prestored words and prestored sentences which provide grammar or context rules. Multiple word hypotheses and plural sentence hypotheses are used. A speech recognition system uses a word hypothesizer to generate hypothesized words for a sentence recognizer. The sentence recognizer receives information containing the hypothesized word and its beginning and end points. The sentence recognizer compares each incoming hypothesis with words allowed by a grammar, and generates a partial or complete sentence hypothesis for each state in which the hypothesis is allowed by the grammar. A dynamic programming technique using backpointer is used to retain all currently valid partial and complete sentence hypotheses. When a complete sentence satisfies suitable criteria, it is output as a recognized sentence. Gaps and overlaps between hypothesized words are used in calculation of a sentence error for each partial and complete sentence hypothesis.

Speech recognition system

A method for generating connected word templates begins with generating isolated word templates of selected words. The isolated word templates are used to extract a continuous word template from a segment of continuous speech containing the selectd words. Both the isolated word templates and the connected word templates can be used to generate speech to determine the quality of the generated templates through aural judgment.
