The digital image recording device includes a tri-linear array of photosensing elements which include a plurality of photosensor pixels. The tri-linear array of photosensing elements is mounted upon a frame for linear movement within a universal housing. The housing is adapted for insertion into the cartridge film slot of a standard view camera. The movement of the array of photosensing elements across an image plane within the standard view camera sequentially senses an image to be recorded. Each row of the tri-linear array of photosensing elements includes a separate color filter stripe which enables the color recording of an image during one pass of the scanner across the image plane. The array of photosensing elements is connected to a storage and processing unit by an electrical cable which permits communication therebetween. The storage and processing unit performs mathematical calculations to the electrically generated signals received from the tri-linear array of photosensing elements or image data primarily to correct for non-uniformities among the photosensing elements or in general to realign received signal information. Image realignment is then performed by a host computer electrically coupled to the storage and processing unit during the retrieval of image data from the camera. The storage and processing unit may be connected to a host computer having a view screen. The view screen and host computer enable a photographer to visualize and adjust an image to be recorded.

Digital image recording device

A synchronizer for synchronizing a slave tape recorder to a master tape recorder. When the speed of the master recorder exceeds 2.5 times the nominal play speed, the synchronizer causes the slave recorder to lag behind the master recorder by an amount related to the speed of the slave recorder. At lower speeds, the synchronizer causes the slave recorder to lock onto the position and speed of the master recorder. The synchronizer employs time-code readers to read time-code on address tracks on the master and slave recorders. The time-code readers produce not only time-code but also clock pulses which are employed to determine the speed of master and slave with high resolution. Both the time-code readers and a resolver employed in the synchronizer are constructed from gate assemblies rather than processors to reduce execution times for the processor in the synchronizer. The resolver is a digital resolver which includes a phase comparator which produces pulses having a width related to the phase difference between indications of the synchronization word in the time-code and polarity to indicate whether the master leads or lags the slave. This signal is applied to a counter which generates a digital error signal based on the phase difference which is employed to control the speed of the slave recorder.

Synchronization method and apparatus

Apparatus for adjusting the speed of an audio tape capstan to a speed such that an audio tone prerecorded on the tape corresponds to a reference frequency, the apparatus thereafter phase locking the frequency of the audio tone to the reference frequency. The apparatus stores a signal corresponding to the last tape speed utilized even after the tape has stopped, allowing for faster phase lock after the tape has started again. Logic circuitry determines the presence of a valid tape audio tone, and means are included for adjusting the system gain to substantially reduce any wow or flutter which normally would result from damaged or spliced tape. A phase adjust knob is provided to allow for offset of the phase locked condition if necessary. The apparatus includes a pair of frequency-to-voltage converters which provide an essentially ripple-free DC voltage output while permitting a response time of only a few cycles of a relatively low (typically 60 Hertz) input frequency.
