Disclosed herein are embodiments of a dual-watch collar-wearable communication device. One embodiment takes the form of a system that includes left-side and right-side audio speakers, a microphone, left-side and right-side push-to-talk (PTT) buttons and a controller programmed to carry out a set of functions. The set of functions include routing audio received via a first channel to the left-side audio speaker, routing audio received via a second channel to the right-side audio speaker, routing audio received via the microphone via the first channel when the left-side PTT button is actuated, and routing audio received via the microphone via the second channel when the right-side PTT button is actuated.

An event in a public safety (PS) network is recorded by mounting a video recording device for capturing images in a field of view (FOV) on a PS person, by tracking the PS person's point of view (POV) by mounting a motion sensor on the PS person's head for joint movement therewith to generate an output direction control signal indicative of a direction along which the POV is directed; by determining a context of the event in which the PS person is engaged by generating from a context sensor an output context signal indicative of the context of the event; and by automatically controlling operation of the video recording device based on the context and control signals by controlling one of direction of the FOV, angle of the FOV, size of the images, and resolution of the images.

Method of and apparatus for automatically controlling operation of a user-mounted recording device based on user motion and event context

Mobile nodes without connectivity to a wireless network form mobile ad hoc networks with mobile nodes with connectivity to the wireless network. The moving directions for the mobile nodes are determined. If the mobile nodes are traveling in substantially the same direction the ad hoc network is formed. The mobile nodes then exchange capabilities. If a mobile node without connectivity to a particular network determines that another mobile node in the ad hoc network is connected to the network, the mobile node without connectivity can tunnel data to the network through the other mobile node.

Formation of wireless local area networks based on movement direction of nodes

A communication system () provides automated incident alerts to a radio, automated video recording of the incident, dynamic formation of a talkgroup, and automatic sharing of the incident information amongst members of the talkgroup. The automated alert triggers video recording of incident information from a portable radio, radio accessory or vehicular radio (). The recorded information of the incident scene is used to dynamically form a talkgroup () based on members having the appropriate skills or equipment to handle the particular incident. As members of the talkgroup () proceed to the incident scene, each member is able to view real-time video of events occurring at the scene using their portable radios, vehicular radios, or radio accessory. The recordings may also be logged and stored for future analytics.

Apparatus and method for initiating and sharing incident information in a communication system

A dual sided transparent display module and an electronic device incorporating the same are provided. The dual sided transparent display module includes a primary transparent display having a first surface side and a second surface side. The transparent display module further includes a first side touch sensor array and a second side touch sensor array respectively located at the first surface side and the second surface side of the primary transparent display. The hands-free device includes a transceiver, a memory, a delayed answering mode actuator (DAMA), and a processing device. The incoming call information corresponds to an incoming call received by the mobile device over a wireless wide area network. The memory is operable to store one or more pre-recorded audio messages. The DAMA is activatable by a user of the hands-free device. An apparatus and method utilizing a mobile communication device including a housing, an earpiece coupled to the housing, a keypad coupled to the housing, and an array sensor coupled to the housing. A portion of the array sensor may be positioned underneath the keypad. The mobile communication device can sense a change in a field across the array sensor and adjust a parameter of operation of the mobile communication device based on the change in the field across the array sensor in response to a conductive profile.
