A joining method head is proposed for fixation to a movable frame, in particular to a robot, having a holding means for an element to be joined to a part, a joining drive means to move the holding means along a joining direction for joining, and a feeding means for feeding elements to the joining method head. Here a control means to control the joining drive means is arranged at the joining method head spatially distanced from the holding means and the joining drive means, so that the holding means and the joining drive means form a joining tool of small dimensions, and means are provided to pass on the elements fed to a transfer station of the feeding means in each instance to the holding means from in front.

The stud () is treated with a chrome-free passivating solution which imparts corrosion resistance while simultaneously causing a layer () of titanium containing material to be formed on at least a portion of the surface of the stud (). The layer () of titanium containing material permits the stud () to be satisfactorily welded to a surface, without the occurrence of arc jumping or blowing, in part, by lowering contact resistance during the welding process.

The invention relates to a multiple stage method for arc-welding a bolt ( ) to a metal structure ( ), said bolt ( ) having a flange ( ) at the end that is to be welded on. The actual welding process is preceded by a cleaning method that is carried out by means of an arc. Said cleaning method consists of two or more stages. It is crucial to control the arc and the distance between the bolt ( ) and the structure surface ( ) in such a way that only cleaning takes place, without causing premature welding. While during the first cleaning state, only a small surface is cleaned intensively, in the second stage, a larger surface is cleaned due to a greater distance between the bolt ( ) and the structure surface ( ). Separation through interruption of the arc and maintenance of the bolt ( ) in a stationary position at a distance from the structure surface ( ) must take place between the first and second cleaning stages. The second cleaning stage can lead into the actual welding process continuously however, without interrupting the arc, the bolt ( ) then being permanently connected to the structure ( ). The invention method is particularly suitable for welding bolts to aluminum structures, even where a surface coating is present, e.g. an oxide and/or a zinc layer and/or an oil film and/or a wax layer.

Method and device for multiple stage arc-welding

The present invention relates to a lift-and-strike welding process. In a first step, e.g. an aluminum surfaces ( ) of a component is cleaned by striking an arc and then the element ( ) to be connected is welded on by means of at least one second voltage. Besides a lift-and-strike welding apparatus, a further lift-and-strike welding process is also provided, wherein an electric cleaning current flows between a surface ( ) of a component and an element to be welded thereon, in that the component rests on the surface ( ) and then the element ( ) is lifted off the surface ( ) up to an approximately, in terms of time, constant distance for removing a coating from the surface ( ) by means of an arc, then the current changes its polarity, wherein afterwards at least one welding current is produced and then the element ( ) is welded to the surface ( ).
