An apparatus for downmixing three or more audio input channels to obtain two or more audio output channels is provided. The apparatus includes a receiving interface for receiving the three or more audio input channels and for receiving side information. Moreover, the apparatus includes a downmixer for downmixing the three or more audio input channels depending on the side information to obtain the two or more audio output channels. The number of the audio output channels is smaller than the number of the audio input channels. The side information indicates a characteristic of at least one of the three or more audio input channels, or a characteristic of one or more sound waves recorded within the one or more audio input channels, or a characteristic of one or more sound sources which emitted one or more sound waves recorded within the one or more audio input channels.

An apparatus for processing a multichannel audio signal has a plurality of channel signals. The apparatus performs a time scale modulation of the multichannel audio signal and has a phase adaptor and a separator. The phase adaptor provides a processed signal by modifying a phase of a signal based on a combination of the channel signals. The separator provides separated signals based on the processed signal. A corresponding method is provided.

An apparatus for generating one or more audio output channel signals depending on two or more audio input channel signals is provided. Each of the two or more audio input channel signals comprises direct signal portions and ambient signal portions. The apparatus comprises a filter determination unit for determining a filter by estimating first power spectral density information and by estimating second power spectral density information. Moreover, the apparatus comprises a signal processor for generating the one or more audio output channel signals by applying the filter on the two or more audio input channel signals. The first power spectral density information indicates power spectral density information on the two or more audio input channel signals, and the second power spectral density information indicates power spectral density information on the ambient signal portions of the two or more audio input channel signals.
