Described herein is a method for controlling insects where a composition including an insecticide and a polymer are applied to soil, where the polymer is formed from an initiator and a plurality of Cto Calkylene oxide units, and where the initiator is an aliphatic polyol with at least three hydroxyl groups. A liquid nonaqueous composition is disclosed. The composition includes: a pesticide in form of suspended particles, a water soluble solvent, an inorganic thickener, and an alkoxylate. A method for the preparation of the composition is also disclosed. The method includes contacting the pesticide with the water soluble solvent, the inorganic thickener, and the alkoxylate. The method may further include contact with a block polymer surfactant and/or a nonionic cosurfactant. A method for controlling phytopathogenic fungi and/or undesired plant growth and/or undesired attack by insects or mites and/or for regulating the growth of plants, wherein the composition is allowed to act on a particular pest, their habitat or plants to be protected from the particular pest, on soil and/or on undesired plants and/or useful plants and/or their habitat.

The present invention relates to a method for producing an aqueous suspension concentrate formulation and novel suspension concentrate formulations of the compound of formula I. The method comprises the steps a) to d) as described hereinafter: a) providing an aqueous slurry of the compound of the formula I containing the compound of formula I in the form of coarse particles dispersed in a solution of the at least one surfactant in water; b) comminuting the coarse particles in the slurry of the compound of formula I to obtain an aqueous suspension of the compound of the formula I, wherein the particles of the compound of the formula I have an volume average particle size in the rage from 3 to 10 &#x3bc;m, as determined by light scattering; c) keeping the suspension of step b) at a temperature in the range of 20 to 95&#xb0; C., d) subjecting the suspension of step c) to a further comminution to obtain an aqueous suspension of the compound of the formula I, wherein the particles of the compound of the formula I have an volume average particle size of below 3 &#x3bc;m, as determined by light scattering.
