For a conventional 2-conductor communication connection, which includes a sensor, a measurement transmitter and a control unit, an isolation unit is provided, which serves for transmission of digital signals, which are not transmitted by the measurement transmitter. Thus, in the case of a conventional 2-conductor communication connection, digital communication between the sensor and the control unit becomes possible.

A device for representing and/or displaying various process and/or controlled variables for selectable application cases on a display unit, with bar graphs being arranged in respective, predetermined surface elements (A, B, C), with each bar graph, respectively each surface element (A, B, C), having a defined form and/or a defined position on the display. A control unit assembles bar graphs, respectively corresponding surface elements (A, B, C), mosaic-like in a display in such a manner that the resulting bar graph display is matched to a selected application case.

A display for on-site visualization of conditions of an automated process is disclosed. It comprises a display controller which at least temporarily provides a state indication signal representing a constellation of states of at least two process data signals. At least one of the two process data signals is derived from a signal generated externally to the field device. The field device has a display element which responds to a change in the state indication signal with a significant change in its appearance, thus signaling the constellation of the states of the two process data signals in a visually perceptible manner. Therefore, the field device is particularly suited for on-site monitoring of entire plants or sections thereof by operating personnel.

A display (AV) for on-site visualization of conditions of an automated process (PZ) is disclosed. It comprises a display controller (AS) which at least temporarily provides a state indication signal (ZA) representing a constellation of states of at least two process data signals (PD, PD). At least one of the two process data signals (PD, PD) is derived from a signal (RX) generated externally to the field device (F). The field device (F) has a display element (AE) which responds to a change in the state indication signal (ZA) with a significant change in its appearance, thus signaling the constellation of the states of the two process data signals (PD, PD) in a visually perceptible manner. Therefore, the field device (F) is particularly suited for on-site monitoring of entire plants or sections thereof by operating personnel.
