The present invention relates to specific water and solvent-free nitrile rubbers having specific functional groups and/or end groups, a process for the production thereof and the use thereof.

Process for the production of water and solvent-free nitrile rubbers

By the use of special cross-linkers that contain at least two isocyanate groups, hydroxyl group-containing optionally hydrogenated nitrile rubber polymers can be successfully cross-linked. Preferred cross-linkers contain allophanate, biuret, uretdione, uretonimine, bridged carbamate, carbodiimide, isocyanurate, iminooxadiazinedione or oxadiazinetrione structural elements.

Cross-linking agents containing isocyanate groups for nitrile rubbers

There are provided novel vulcanizable compositions based on optionally fully or partly hydrogenated nitrile rubbers containing epoxy groups, and specific crosslinkers, which no longer require use of conventional crosslinkers, more particularly sulphur. The vulcanizates producible therefrom possess very good compression sets at room temperature, 100&#xb0; C. and 150&#xb0; C., and additionally exhibit high tensile stress combined with good elongation at break.

Compositions that can be vulcanized and that are based on nitrile rubbers containing epoxy groups

Vulcanizable compositions based on nitrile rubbers containing epoxy groups

The present invention relates to specific water and solvent-free nitrile rubbers having specific functional groups and/or end groups, a process for the production thereof and the use thereof. This process involves removing volatile compounds from a fluid (F) containing (1) at least one nitrile rubber and (2) at least one volatile compound, wherein the process comprises at least the steps of a.) treating the fluid (F) in at least one conversation unit, b.) retreating the concentrated fluid from step a.) in at least one retreating unit and c.) feeding the retreated concentrated fluid from step b.) into at least one retreating unit.

An improved polymerization and process method allows the production of special nitrile rubbers which are characterized by a specific anion content and an excellent storage stability and allow a particularly good vulcanization rate and moreover result in vulcanized materials that have advantageous properties, especially with regard to the contact with metal components of molded parts based on said vulcanized materials.

Nitrile rubbers which optionally contain alkylthio terminal groups and which are optionally hydrogenated

A new process is provided for preparing nitrile rubbers by free-radical polymerization in an organic solvent and in the presence of specific modifier substances. This polymerization may be followed by hydrogenation to give likewise new hydrogenated nitrile rubbers, the hydrogenation advantageously taking place likewise in organic solvent. The optionally hydrogenated nitrile rubbers obtained are notable for having fragments of the employed modifier substances in the main polymer chain and/or as end groups. They can be prepared with a wide diversity of molecular weights and polydispersity indices, especially with very low polydispersity indices.

Nitrile rubbers and production thereof in organic solvents

A novel vulcanizable polymer composition is provided which is characterized by a specific combination of a polyamine crosslinking agent and a particular crosslinking accelerator. Furtheron polymer vulcanizates on the basis of such polymer compositions as well as method for preparing such polymer vulcanizate is provided, in particular in the form of mouldings or shaped parts.

Vulcanizable polymer compositions

Through the use of an improved iron-based redox system it is possible to prepare special new, optionally hydrogenated, nitrile rubbers which feature a more uniform monomer distribution and a lower fraction of long-chain branches and hence are distinguished by enhanced flow properties at the same time as very good properties on processing.

Nitrile rubbers

The present invention relates to dithiocarbamic esters, their preparation and their use for regulating the degree of polymerization during the polymerization of monomers, such as during the polymerization of chloroprene to give polychloroprene, and during the polymerization of 2,3-dichlorobutadiene to give poly-2,3-dichlorobutadiene, and during the copolymerization of chloroprene with 2,3-dichlorobutadiene. The present invention further relates to polymers which are obtainable via the polymerization of monomers in the presence of the dithiocarbamic esters of the invention. The present invention also relates to polymers which contain end groups derived from the dithiocarbamic esters of the present invention.
