A plug and socket assembly () includes a socket () with a receptacle portion () configured to receive an electrical plug () and an interlock mechanism () configured to retain the electrical plug () in the receptacle portion () when the receptacle portion () is rotated about a first axis to a first position. The assembly () includes an electrical switch () including an actuator () operable to energize and de-energize the socket (). The assembly () includes a transfer mechanism () having a first mechanical component () operable to transfer the rotation of the receptacle portion () into motion relative to the first axis that operates the actuator (). Methods of operating a plug and socket assembly () are also provided.

Electrical socket with switch to prevent electrical arc in explosive environments

A switching and/or distributing device has at least one receiving housing and a housing cover. Arranged in at least one housing rail region are one or a plurality of power distribution rails which extend substantially in a main plane and are connected to sub-distribution rails. In at least a first plane, said sub-distribution rails extend substantially in parallel to the main plane and are electrically insulated from one another and extend in the direction of at least one housing component region, wherein in the housing component region, in particular modular components, which contain electrical/electronic operating means, are in electrical contact with one sub-distribution rail each. As a result, a switching and/or distributing device is improved in such a way that the arrangement of corresponding components is possible easily without much additional effort even in potentially explosive atmospheres and a plurality of components of different ty pes and of different sizes can be arranged at the same time.

A box comprising a box bottom part and a lid part which is pivotably supported relative thereto by means of a hinge device between an open and a closed position is particularly suited for use in the Ex area. The hinge device comprises a lower hinge part assigned to the box bottom part and an upper hinge part assigned to the lid part, which are pivotably connected to each other. To provide a permanent connection between lid part and box bottom part in a simple way and at low costs, while simultaneously said parts are pivotable relative to each other in a safe way, one hinge part is slidably supported and the other hinge part is arranged to be at least partly screw-mountable in the respectively assigned box bottom part and lid part, respectively.

An explosion-proof LED module has at least one light-emitting diode, a heat sink connected to this and an LED cover that covers the LED at least in the emission direction. The LED cover extends into an insertion recess of the heat sink. In this insertion recess, the LED cover is surrounded by a casting compound resulting in sealing of the LED relative to an outer and possibly explosive atmosphere. As a result, an explosion-proof LED module can be provided whereby the manufacture of said explosion-proof LED module is relatively simple and possible in an economic manner in a short time from prefabricated parts. At the same time, the explosion-proof module is furthermore characterized in that sufficient cooling corresponding to the ignition protection type 'intrinsic safety' and an embedding of the component according to ignition protection type 'encapsulation' are given.

Explosion-proof LED module

An explosion-proof luminaire comprises a plurality of light-emitting diodes. These are assigned to a ballast for electrical power supply. A contactless power transmission device is formed between at least a group of LEDs and the ballast. This yields an explosion-proof luminaire which is simplified and improved in terms of structure and light output while permitting many possible arrangements of the LEDs in the corresponding luminaire at the same time.

The carrier for conveying horses has a tub-like substructure (22) mounted on a chassis (20), the substructure being provided with a rear door for entry and exit. The substructure (22) is closed at the top by means of a roof (34). In order to provide a certain free field of vision for the horses in an obliquely forward-oriented direction and to prevent the horses from appreciating the limited interior space of the horse transport carrier when they enter, a lift device for elevating the roof (34) from the substructure (22) is provided between the substructure (22) and the roof (34). From the normal, closed position, the roof (34) can be elevated in desired increments to an elevated position providing a free space between the roof (34) and the substructure (22).
