The invention relates to a method for modifying an object comprising the step of: I) providing an object which is made at least partially of a construction material comprising a thermoplastic polyurethane. The method also comprises the following steps: II) contacting, at least in part, the construction material, for a first predetermined period of time, with a first liquid comprising ≥80% by weight, based on the total weight of the first liquid, of a polar aprotic solvent; III) contacting, for a second predetermined period of time, the areas of the construction material that were in contact with the liquid in step II) with a second liquid comprising ≥80% by weight, based on the total weight of the second liquid, of a polar protic solvent. Preferably, the first liquid is DMSO or acetone and the second liquid is water.

Method for modifying a 3D printed object

A method for producing an object comprises the step of producing the object by means of an additive manufacturing process from a construction material. The construction material comprises a first polyurethane polymer which has: a weight percentage ratio of O to N of ≥2 to ≤2.5, determined by elementary analysis; a weight percentage ratio of N to C of ≥0.1 to ≤0.25, determined by elementary analysis; a full-width at half maximum of the melting peak of ≤20 K, determined by dynamic differential scanning calorimetry DSC (2heating at heating rate 20 k/min); and a difference between the melting temperature and the recrystallisation temperature of ≥5 K and ≤100 K, determined by dynamic differential scanning calorimetry DSC (2heating) at a heating and cooling rate of 20 K/min.

Additive manufacturing process using a building material having a high hard segment content

The present invention relates to a method for producing a treated object, comprising the steps of: applying a layer of particles to a target area; applying a liquid binder to a selected portion of the layer in accordance with a cross-section of the object, so that the particles in the selected portion are bonded; repeating the steps of applying a layer of particles and applying a binder for a plurality of layers so that the bonded portions of the adjacent layers are bonded to form an object, wherein at least a part of the particles comprises a meltable polymer. A binder which cures by cross-linking is preferably selected as the binder. The obtained object is at least partially contacted with a liquid heated to &#x2265;T or with a powder bed heated to &#x2265;T in order to obtain the treated object. T represents a temperature of &#x2265;25&#xb0; C., the liquid does not represent a solvent or a reaction partner for the binder present in the object and the meltable polymer, and the powder bed is different from the particles of the meltable polymer. The invention also relates to a treated object that can be obtained by the method according to the invention.

The meltable polymer comprises a thermoplastic polyurethane polymer which has a melting range (DSC, Differential Scanning calorimetry; second heating at heating rate 5 K/min) of 160 to 270&#xb0; C. and a Shore D hardness according to DIN ISO 7619-1 of 50 or more and which, at a temperature T, has a melt volume rate (melt volume rate (MVR)) according to ISO 1133 of 5 to 15 cm/10 min and a change of the MVR, when this temperature T increases by 20&#xb0; C., of greater than or equal to 90 cm/10 min. The invention also relates to an item which can be obtained by means of the method.

Powder-based additive manufacturing process

The invention relates to an additive manufacturing process (3D printing) using particles having a meltable polymer. The meltable polymer comprises a thermoplastic polyurethane polymer which has a flowing temperature (intersection of E' and E&#x2033; in the DMA) of &#x2265;80&#xb0; C. to &#x3c;180&#xb0; C. and a Shore A hardness according to DIN ISO 7619-1 of &#x2265;50 Shore A and &#x3c;85 Shore A and which, at a temperature T, has a melt volume rate (melt volume rate (MVR)) according to ISO 1133 of &#x2265;5 to &#x3c;15 cm/10 min. The invention also relates to an item which can be obtained by means of the method.
