Examples of the disclosure include a host system comprising an authentication communication medium interface configured to be communicatively coupled to a connected module, a secure communication medium interface, and a controller configured to detect a connection of the connected module to the host system over a physical communication connection, generate an authentication challenge, provide the authentication challenge to the connected module over a physical authentication connection via the authentication communication medium interface, receive a challenge response to the authentication challenge from the connected module via the authentication communication medium interface, verify the challenge response, and grant the connected module access to host system data over the physical communication connection via the secure communication medium interface based on successful verification of the challenge response.

Examples of the disclosure include a microserver system comprising a plurality of microservers, a common hardware bus interconnecting the microservers, each microserver of the plurality of microservers being configured to execute one or more applications, and a controller coupled to the plurality of microservers, the controller being configured to determine, based on application-load data associated with the one or more applications, a first application load of a first set of one or more applications executed by a first microserver of the plurality of microservers and a second application load of a second set of one or more applications executed by a second microserver of the plurality of microservers, determine that a combination of the first application load and the second application load is below a maximum-application-load threshold of the second microserver, and migrate the first set of one or more applications from the first microserver to the second microserver.

Power optimization of microserver loads

Systems and methods of providing network connectivity to an equipment rack are provided. A network switch includes an enclosure to be aligned along the height of an equipment rack. The network switch provides a plurality of network ports distributed along the enclosure so the network ports are associated with mounting spaces in the rack, when installed. A controller provides communications between the plurality of network ports and may be configured to identify installed equipment in particular rack spaces, from network traffic on particular network ports and by association of the network ports with the rack spaces.

The present invention provides a system and method of configuring embedded electronic devices in a data center. The method includes: requesting device configuration information by the one or more embedded electronic devices via a wireless protocol; receiving the request at an update apparatus; in response to receiving the request at the update apparatus, retrieving a configuration file at the update apparatus, wherein the configuration file comprises a series of instructions for configuring the one or more embedded electronic devices in a default configuration; transmitting the configuration file from the update apparatus to the one or more embedded electronic devices via the wireless protocol; and configuring the one or more embedded electronic devices according to the configuration file.
