A control device cyclically accepts each safety-oriented input signal from an industrial-technical process in a fail-safe manner, and transfers the safety-oriented input signals to a Cloud using a fail-safe protocol over a link to a computer network. The control device also accepts signals from the Cloud over the link to the computer network, using the fail-safe protocol for the industrial-technical process specific safety-oriented control signals, and decides based on additional information in a fail-safe manner whether it recognizes the safety-oriented control signals determined by the Cloud for the industrial-technical process as correct. Depending on the result of the decision, the device controls the industrial-technical process in accordance with the safety-oriented control signals in a fail-safe manner or places the industrial-technical process into a safe state in a fail-safe manner.

Safety-oriented controller in combination with cloud computing

The invention relates to a method for the targeted reaction in the event of contact between an element () pertaining to a machine and an object (), and a corresponding control device (). Upon identification of contact between the machine element () and the object (), if the machine axle is shifted into rapid displacement mode in an automated manner during the contact by means of a control device (), further displacement of the machine axle () is stopped by the drive () of the machine () being immediately cut off. Upon identification of contact, if the machine axle is shifted into slow displacement mode in an automated manner during the contact by means of a control device (), collision detection is carried out, further displacement of the machine axle () being stopped if a collision is detected. The invention thus enables the effects of a collision of an element () pertaining to a machine with an object () to be maintained as low as possible.

Method and control device for targeted reaction in the event of a contact between a machine element of a machine and an object

During the production of a product by means of a production machine, an evaluation device receives actual states of components of the production machine, detected by sensors at detection times, and/or operating states of a control device of the production machine at the defined detection times. The evaluation device compares the states of each detection time transmitted thereto with pre-defined state combinations and thus determines fulfilled state combinations. For each fulfilled state combination, the evaluation device selects relevant states from the states of the respective detection time transmitted thereto, and corresponding information and the respective detection time are stored with the relevant states such that they are available for other evaluations.

Operating method for an evaluation device for a production machine

There is described a tool as well as a method for machining a workpiece made of a hard material by means of a geometrically determined blade. In order to obtain an improved surface quality of the machined workpiece when machining such a hard and brittle material, a tool is provided which has a cutting angle of less than 10&#xb0;. According to the associated machining method, rotational speeds exceeding 1300 rpm are used. There is further described a machine that is to be used in such a tool and is utilized in such a method.

Tool for machining a workpiece made of a hard material

With a method according to the invention for free bending, a workpiece to be machined, such as a sheet metal plate, is brought into contact with a bending edge of a lower die. A bending punching tool is moved opposite to the lower die, such that the sheet metal plate is bent by the punching tool in terms of generating a predetermined target bending angle across the bending edge. In this case, the achieved bending angle is measured at least after a first bending process and the bending force to be applied and the measuring curve resulting therefrom are determined during the bending process as a function of the traverse path of the bending punching tool. A correction value for the course of the bending process is subsequently determined from the resulting deviation between the predetermined target bending angle and the achieved bending angle and as a result of the detected measurement curve and a model-based calculation of the bending behavior and further bending processes are carried out in view of the correction values.

Method for free bending

When viewing in the direction of material flow of a flat film web of a packaging machine for tubular bags, a film conveying device is situated behind a shaping shoulder of a packaging machine for tubular bags. The film conveying device enables the film web to be drawn off from a film delivery device and pulled over the shaping shoulder. The film web can be shaped by means of the shaping shoulder into a bag extending in the direction of material flow. When viewing in the direction of material flow, a film joining device is situated behind the shaping shoulder. This film joining device can join together opposite lying edge areas of the film web. An incorrect position of the film web perpendicular to the direction of material flow can be detected and transmitted to a control device by a sensor device located, when viewing in the direction of material flow, between the shaping shoulder and the film joining device. A tracking device can be controlled by the control device in order to counteract the incorrect position of the film web perpendicular to the direction of material flow.

Packaging machine for tubular bags

Content is generated on a host system based on real-time data from a controlled process collected over an internet from a customer's client machine tool control system. The real-time data is captured from the client machine tool by downloading software that manipulates controller functionality to perform a data capture trace predefined events and triggers. The captured data is retrieved by the host, which may generate content based on the data, or provide selective, authorized access to the data by others.

Data capture for electronically delivered automation services

Active resource control of added functionality in a numerical control process having at least one resource is provided. It can occur during run-time of the numerical control process, that an added functionality that uses at least a portion of the resource. On-line checking of the added functionality detects during run time whether the added functionality causes the numerical control process to reach a resource limit. Error handling handles errors upon reaching a resource limit. Off-line checking detects off-line, before the run time of the numerical control process, whether the added functionality causes the numerical control process to reach a resource limit of the resource. Multiple layers are provided that check at multiple layers of the numerical control process whether the added functionality causes the numerical control process to reach a resource limit of the resource. A flexible response to resource limit errors based on a degree of importance of the added functionality is provided.
