Systems and methods for surgical guidance and image registration are provided, in which three-dimensional image data associated with an object or patient is registered to topological image data obtained using a surface topology imaging device. The surface topology imaging device may be rigidly attached to an optical position measurement system that also tracks fiducial markers on a movable instrument. The instrument may be registered to the topological image data, such that the topological image data and the movable instrument are registered to the three-dimensional image data. The three-dimensional image data may be CT or MRI data associated with a patient. The system may also co-register images pertaining to a surgical plan with the three-dimensional image data. In another aspect, the surface topology imaging device may be configured to directly track fiducial markers on a movable instrument. The fiducial markers may be tracked according to surface texture.

System and methods for intraoperative guidance feedback

Systems and methods are provided for optical topology detection and illumination. Embodiments provide an integrated system, and methods of operation thereof, where the integrated system includes an illumination system and an optical topology detection system, and where at least a portion of the spectral content of illumination light from the illumination system is within an optical detection bandwidth of the optical topology detection system, and where the operation of the optical topology detection system and the illumination system are interleaved to avoid crosstalk, such that the optical topology detection system detects the optical topology detection light when the illumination system is not emitting illumination light. The system may include, and control the operation of, an optical navigation system. The components of the system may be mounted to a rigid frame to maintain calibration.

Integrated illumination and optical surface topology detection system and methods of use thereof

The present disclosure provides systems and methods for determining effects of genetic variants on selection of polyadenylation sites (PAS) during polyadenylation processes. In an aspect, the present disclosure provides a polyadenylation code, a computational model that can predict alternative polyadenylation patterns from transcript sequences. A score can be calculated that describes or corresponds to the strength of a PAS, or the efficiency in which it is recognized by the 3'-end processing machinery. The polyadenylation model may be used, for example, to assess the effects of anti-sense oligonucleotides to alter transcript abundance. As another example, the polyadenylation model may be used to scan the 3&#x2032;-UTR of a human genome to find potential PAS.
