A floor mat is provided, including a mat body having an upper surface, and a heel pad disposed on the upper surface with a heel pad upper surface and an underside from which depend a plurality of isolated support members projecting generally perpendicularly from the underside such that the heel pad provides compressive strength and enhanced flexibility.

Lumbar and cervical interbody or intervertebral devices for implantation between adjacent vertebrae of a spine and/or within intermediary canals of long bones are characterized by a body defining a superior end and an inferior end whose surfaces have serrations or teeth thereon forming anti-backout structures that allow implantation of the body but inhibit removal or backing out therefrom. The one-way structures may extend from the anterior end to the posterior end. The one-way structures may take different shapes but are always configured to allow insertion of the interbody device in an anterior-first manner while preventing and/or inhibiting the interbody device from backing out posteriorly. The various interbody devices may be further characterized by a body defining a cavity that is in communication with the superior and inferior ends of the body and at least one lateral side thereof via openings in the body. Undercuts are formed in the body about the adjacent the openings in order to support bony ingrowth within the void.

Cervical and lumbar spinal interbody devices

A clamp system includes a first clamp, a second clamp, and a fixation rod. The first clamp at least partially defines a first jaw for receiving a support rod and a central opening. The second clamp at least partially defines a second jaw for receiving a pin and a central opening. At least one of the first clamp and the second clamp comprises a boss for rotatably positioning the first clamp relative to the second clamp. The fixation rod is received in the central openings of the first clamp and the second clamp for selectively securing a position of the first clamp relative to the second clamp.

External fixation system and methods of use

Embodiments of the invention are directed to a medical device with a handpiece that provides enhanced comfort of use, maneuverability, and for a variety of hand-held options to the user. Embodiments of the invention include handpieces that include a grip panel comprised of a friction-enhancing material to facilitate gripping of the handpiece by an operator. In addition, embodiments of the invention include handpieces having a generally symmetrical configuration in order to facilitate grasping by an operator's left or right hand.

An injection molded carpet mat includes a flexible base having an upper surface defining a carpet recess, and an opposite lower surface. A carpet sheet is secured in the carpet recess by being integrally formed with the base, and having a napped top surface, a bottom surface and a peripheral edge. An in-situ formed spinal implant is provided, including an elongate strip having a proximal end and an opposite distal end, the strip having a plurality of spaced teeth disposed along edges of the strip. The strip has a generally arcuate or concave cross-section and is configured for being coiled into a spiral from the proximate end to the distal end for placement between adjacent spinal vertebrae, such that upon formation of the coiled shape, the teeth on a first edge engage one of the vertebrae, and teeth of an opposite, second edge engage the other of the vertebrae.

In-situ formed spinal implant

A spine plate defines a body having a posterior surface or side and an anterior surface or side. The body also has a pair of bone screw bores for each vertebra to which the spine plate will be attached. The bone screw bores extend between the posterior side and the anterior side. A relief area is provided between each pair of bone screw bores in the anterior surface of the body. The relief area opens to both bone screw bores to allow displacement of the bone screw when entering the respective bone screw bore. The relief area also opens to both bone screw bores to permit an instrument to be received therein to remove a bone screw from one of the bone screw bores.

A multi-axial spinal cross-connector is configured for connection between spinal fixation devices such as spinal fixation rods. The cross-connector has first and second connection members that are joinable at a fixable pivot junction. The pivot junction allows the connection members to assume various positions relative to one another. A clamp is provided on each end of the first and second connection members whose open and closed states are controlled by fixation of a pivot structure which also fixates the positions of the first and second connection members relative to each other. The cross-connector provides single and/or multi-step locking of both end clamps at the pivot joint. The cross-connector also provides easy in situ sizing, positioning and adjustability.

Multi-axial spinal cross-connectors

Spine fixation constructs are configured to receive and retain a spinal rod onto a vertebral bone screw. The spine fixation constructs provide for 360&#xb0; rotation about a bone screw and variable axial placement about the bone screw. In one form, a rod holder of the spine fixation construct is configured to be axially received onto the bone screw. Axial positioning of the rod holder on the bone screw is fixed through cooperation of the rod holder with a fixation component. The fixation component is axially received onto the bone screw. Retention of the spinal rod by the spinal rod holder is also provided via the fixation member. In one form, spinal rod retention is provided upon axial retention of the spinal rod holder onto the bone screw through cooperating action between the fixation mechanism and the spinal rod holder. According to an embodiment, a member of the rod holder is caused to pivot and capture the spinal rod upon receipt of the fixation member onto the bone screw and rod holder. According to another embodiment, pivoting motion of a pawl of the rod holder by the fixation member not only locks the spinal rod but skews the pawl relative to the bone screw to wedge the axial placement of the pawl and thus the rod holder relative to the bone screw.

Pedicle screw constructs and spinal rod attachment assemblies

A single to multi-level spine plate has configured bone screw bores that cooperate with bone screws to retain a bone screw in a determinative position. In one form, the determinative position is a self-capture position wherein the bone screw is retained without the aid of any additional bone screw retention device. In another form, the determinative position is a limited angulation orientation of a bone screw relative to the spine plate. This limited angulation may be different for end plate bone screw bores than for middle plate bone screw bores. The bone screw bores may be configured to prohibit angulation once set. In another form, the determinative position is the reception of a cooperating bone screw at a centroid of the bone screw bore when installed.

A spinal fixation system includes a pedicle screw having a longitudinal axis. A fixation element is configured to connect the pedicle screw to at least one additional pedicle screw. A coupling mechanism includes a pedicle screw securing device adapted to secure the coupling mechanism to the pedicle screw and a fixation element securing device configured to secure the coupling mechanism to the fixation element. A fastening mechanism is configured to fasten both the pedicle screw securing device and the fixation element securing device. The fastening mechanism is located along the longitudinal axis of the pedicle screw.

Spinal fixation system

A device for insertion into a spinal (intervertebral or intravertebral) space is expandable from a first circumference to a second circumference through axial compression of segments of the device, particularly once the device has been properly situated within a vertebral space. The interbody/intravertebral body device is characterized by a plurality of axially stacked, individual segments that are provided on a central insertion and deployment rod. Each segment includes a central plate or body to which are pivotally attached plate or leaf structures. Pivoting of the structures provides a collapsed or unexpanded position of the first circumference and an open or expanded position of the second circumference.
