An electrical power supply device includes a DC-DC power convertor receiving an input voltage and producing an output voltage, a first and second port connected to the DC-DC power convertor supplying electrical power to a first and second consumer device, and a device controller connected to the DC-DC power convertor, the first and second port. The memory device controller stores instructions to command the DC-DC power convertor to produce the output voltage between a first voltage threshold and a higher second voltage threshold when only the first consumer device is connected to the first port. The memory stores additional instructions which commands the DC-DC power convertor to produce the output voltage at the first voltage threshold when the first consumer device is connected to the first port and the second consumer device is connected to the second port.

Electrical power supply device and method of operating same

A programmable turn signal and hazard flasher control system (10, 100) includes a lamp control module (12, 108) coupling a turn signal request unit (14, 106) to a number of turn signal lamps (20-30). The module (12, 108) couples the turn signal request unit (14, 106) to a number of vehicle turn signal lamps (20-26) in a first mode of operation and to a number of vehicle turn signal lamps (20-26) as well as a number of additional turn signal lamps (28, 30) in a second mode of operation to thereby accommodate lighting requirements of a trailer or other towed vehicle or to accommodate different lighting requirements in vehicles of a common vehicle platform. The load current to the turn signal lamps (20-30) in either case flows through a shunt resistor R1, and is controlled by a flasher circuit (54) during normal operation to a first flash rate and during a lamp failure condition to a second faster flash rate. The module (12, 108) further includes a control circuit (62) responsive to an appropriate signal state at a lamp designation control input (34) to provide a predefined load activation signal to the flasher circuit (54) regardless of whether the module (12, 108) is coupled to only a minimum number of vehicle turn signal lamps, or the minimum number of vehicle turn signal lamps as well as a number of additional turn signal lamps.

Programmable turn signal and hazard flasher control system

A motor vehicle has a daytime running light system for providing automatic illumination of a pair of headlamps at reduced intensity. The reduced intensity operation is accomplished by way of a switch mode power converter which operates to provide a daytime running light voltage that is less than the vehicle system voltage normally supplied to the headlamps. The switch mode power converter makes extremely efficient use of the vehicle electrical power by minimizing power dissipation in attaining a lower daytime running light voltage. Furthermore, the daytime running light system is amenable to simple calibration modification to implement varying daytime running light voltage levels in accordance with vehicle system and/or various international requirements.

A motor vehicle accessory control is capable of reversibly activating a DC motor to operate a vehicle door lock, window, sun roof or similarly operated device through a relay controlled H-switch arrangement. The control is provided with an automatic control circuit in a module having input and output terminals but only a single power terminal, which provides either positive power or ground to the module. The opposite power connections are made from the module through the activating relay coils of the H-switch motor drive circuit. A manual switch may be provided for alternative manual reversible activation of the relays; and the circuit provides priority of manual over automatic operation. Neither the manual switch nor the module circuit is capable of activating both relays simultaneously; therefore, a reliable power connection is always available for the module through at least one of the relay activating coils.
