The present disclosure relates to a system includes an antenna disposed on a pole and a beam control unit disposed on the pole and operably coupled to the antenna. The beam control unit includes one or more sensors configured to detect one or more parameters related to tilting or bending of the pole. In addition, the beam control unit is configured to determine a misalignment of an antenna boresight as compared to an initial antenna boresight direction and to re-align the antenna boresight to the initial antenna boresight direction.

Sensed situation millimeter-wave communications beam control

A smart street lighting system and method employs a plurality of street lights having a luminaire, a luminaire associate and a support pole. A communications module is contained within the luminaire associates and a power line is contained within the support poles. The power line is coupled to the communications module, the luminaire associate and the luminaire, and a steerable millimeter wave radar operatively coupled to the communications module. The communications module operates in a radio frequency network in a frequency range of 57-64 GHz. The steerable millimeter wave radar provides a signal reflected from a target that may be received by one of the luminaire associates within the system. A powerline communications system interfaces with the radio frequency network to provide communications between the communications modules in the street lights and the PLC system.

Street lighting communications, control, and special services

Some embodiments are directed to an Internet of Things ('IoT') associate to facilitate implementation of a digital twin of a twinned physical system. The IoT associate may include a communication port to communicate with at least one component, the at least one component comprising a sensor or an actuator associated with the twinned physical system, and a gateway to exchange information via the IoT. A computer processor and local data storage, coupled to the communication port and gateway, may receive a digital twin model from a data warehouse via the IoT. The computer processor may be programmed to, for at least a selected portion of the twinned physical system, execute the digital twin model in connection with the at least one component and operation of the twinned physical system.

Internet of things associate

A system and method for monitoring a condition of a marine riser including at least one subsea sensing and acoustic platform mechanically coupled to a riser joint of the marine riser. The at least one platform includes one or more sensors mechanically coupled to the riser joint and including plug-and-play sensor interface technology. The platform further includes a microprocessor configured to receive and analyze sensor data from the one or more sensors and provide pre-processed data representative of a determination of a condition of the riser joint. A memory module is provided including one or more software modules executable by the microprocessor and configured to provide data storage. The platform further includes an acoustic modem configured to receive the pre-processed data, communicate the condition to a topside acoustic transceiver in real-time and provide remote command configuration in response to the condition. An included power module provides power to the platform components.

Marine riser management system including subsea acoustic monitoring platform and an associated method

The present disclosure relates to a system includes a Luneburg lens antenna system configured to selectively provide wireless communication to a plurality of stations, and one or more sensors configured to collect data related to an occupancy status of each of the plurality of stations. The system also includes a controller coupled to the Luneburg lens antenna system and the one or more sensors, wherein the controller is configured to determine the occupancy status of each of the plurality of stations based on the data collected by the one or more sensors, and the controller is further configured to change operation of the Luneburg lens antenna system based on the occupancy status of each of the plurality of stations.

Geofencing for wireless communications

An engine communication system for aircraft engines having a nacelle with two cowlings extending annularly about the aircraft engine and defining a radially outward surface thereof, and at least one sensor positioned radially inward from the nacelle. The system includes a cowling gap positioned between the two cowlings when coupled together, and an engine control device communicatively coupled to the sensor and configured to at least one of receive engine data from the sensor and receive instruction data from a transmitter device positioned radially outward from the cowling gap. The system also includes a linearly polarized antenna communicatively coupled to the engine control device and positioned radially inward from the cowling gap and extending radially outward toward the cowling gap. The antenna is configured to at least one of receive and transmit the engine data and the instruction data through the cowling gap.

Wireless aircraft engine communication system

A system for positioning an unmanned aerial vehicle is provided including a position reference system including an electromagnetic radiation transmitter configured to modulate a transmission signal to encode location information associated with a coordinate system relative to the electromagnetic radiation transmitter. The system further includes an unmanned aerial vehicle including at least one control device configured to control a position of the unmanned aerial vehicle and an electromagnetic radiation receiver configured to receive the transmission signal. The unmanned aerial vehicle further includes a control system configured to control the at least one control device based at least in part on the location information received by the electromagnetic radiation receiver.

System and method for positioning an unmanned aerial vehicle

An engine monitoring system for an aircraft engine having a nacelle extending annularly thereabout and a sensor positioned radially inward therefrom. The system includes an engine control device coupled communicatively to the sensor and configured to receive engine data from the sensor and/or receive instruction data from a transmitter device positioned radially outward from a nacelle radially outward surface. The system also includes a composite panel including at least a portion of the nacelle and a ground plane positioned radially inward from the nacelle radially outward surface, the composite panel including an antenna coupled communicatively to engine control device and a radome positioned radially outward from ground plane. The antenna is configured to at least one of receive engine data from the engine control device and transmit engine data to a receiver device, and receive instruction data from the transmitter device and transmit instruction data to the engine control device.

Wireless aircraft engine monitoring system

A street lighting fixture and street lamp used in street lighting containing an accelerometer that is used to detect and characterize acceleration events on a street lighting fixture. The accelerometer readings may be combined with GPS technology to determine a relocation of the street lighting fixture.

Luminaire associate

A fastening device may include a hollow void. The hollow void may contain an inner coil proximate to a first end of the device, a sensing portion to sense a characteristic associated with the fastening device during a sensing time window, and a controller. The controller may rectify an alternating current from the inner coil during a charging time window, store energy associated with the rectified alternating current, and use the stored energy to charge the sensing portion during the sensing time window. An outer coil outside the fastening device may be located proximate to a second end of the device as compared to the inner coil. An interface portion outside the fastening device may provide an alternating current to the outer coil during the charging time window, detect the sensed characteristic via the outer coil during the sensing time window, and transmit an indication of the detected characteristic value.

A full-duplex RF communication system and corresponding methods use digital adaptive filters for interference cancellation. As provided, the techniques allow full-duplex radio frequency communication without frequency-, time-, or code-division multiplexing and without the use of hardware RF cancellers, in real-time. A system includes a first electronic device configured to attach to an industrial machine or one or more areas of an industrial facility. The first electronic device is configured to transmit a signal indicative of a potentially hazardous condition with respect to personnel of the industrial facility. The system also includes a second electronic device communicatively coupled to the first electronic device and configured to attach to a hardhat of the personnel of the industrial facility. The second electronic device is configured to receive the signal from the first electronic device, determine whether a parameter of the signal is above a threshold, and generate an alarm when the parameter of the signal is above the threshold. The alarm is configured to indicate the potentially hazardous condition to the personnel.
