A mounting assembly for a vehicle is provided. The vehicle has a chassis with a first frame rail and a second frame rail extending longitudinally. The mounting assembly has a bracket with a concave region to receive and attach to a compressed gas tank to move the compressed gas tank away from an external force applied to an outer surface of the tank and in a first direction towards and beneath the first frame rail. The bracket has a first end region connected to the first frame rail to position the tank on an outboard side of the first frame rail.

Vehicle tank mounting assembly

Filling methods and systems are provided for a conformable fuel tank. In one example, a system comprises an active thermal management arrangement for the conformable fuel tank. The active thermal management arrangement comprises one or more recirculation passage for mixing hot fuel distal to an inlet port of the conformable fuel tank with cool incoming fuel flowing to the inlet port.

Methods and systems for conformable fuel tank

A method of filling a hydrogen-storage tank with a metal-organic framework (MOF) includes inserting MOF through an opening of the hydrogen-storage tank to at least partially fill an interior cavity of the tank with MOF. The method further includes positioning a compactor relative to the tank. The compactor includes a tamp configured to change shape between an insertion state in which the tamp is insertable through the opening and an expanded state in which the tamp is enlarged to be bigger than the opening. The method also includes inserting the tamp through the opening when the tamp is in the insertion state and switching the tamp from the insertion state to the expanded state. The method further includes compacting the MOF with the tamp.

Methods and apparatuses for filling adsorbent powder in a hydrogen or natural gas tank

A pressure vessel includes a shell, a first boss, a second boss, and a reinforcement support. The shell defines an internal cavity. The first and second bosses are disposed within the cavity and respectively extend through opposing longitudinal ends of the shell. The first boss defines a longitudinally extending central orifice. The reinforcement support is disposed within the cavity, is secured to the first boss radially outward of the central orifice, extends from the first boss to the second boss, and is secured to the second boss.

Pressurized-fluid storage device

Methods of forming a high surface area compacted MOF powder are disclosed, as well as MOF pellets formed thereby. The method may include synthesizing a metal organic framework (MOF) powder using a first solvent, exchanging the first solvent with a second solvent such that pores of the MOF powder are at least 10% filled with the second solvent, compacting the MOF powder having pores at least 10% filled with the second solvent into a pellet, and desolvating the compacted pellet to remove the second solvent. The pellet may maintain a specific surface area after compacting that is at least 80% its initial specific surface area. Compacting the MOF powder with a solvent at least partially filling its pores may prevent or reduce crushing of the MOF pore structure and maintain surface area, for example, for hydrogen or natural gas storage.

A fuel storage vessel includes a valve operatively associated with the storage vessel, a conduit disposed within the vessel and in fluid communication with the valve for delivering a stream of pressurized fuel to the storage vessel and a detector adjacent the conduit for detecting a state of the pressurized fuel in the storage vessel. The detector is positioned outside of the stream of pressurized fuel.

A connection for conducting pressurized fluids between a tube and a connection component having a bore for receiving the tube. A clamping ring surrounds the tube and is seated on a seat between first and second bore segments and has an annular lip extending away from the seat. A locking bolt having a through-hole receiving the tube is threaded into the first bore segment and contacts the ring, an annular collar projecting from the locking bolt surrounding the lip and urging it radially inward to grip the tube when the bolt is tightened against the clamping ring. A sealing ring surrounding the tube is positioned between the clamping ring and a sealing ring seat defined between the second and third bore segments.

A tank assembly having a gas impermeable liner having a neck for storing a compressed gas is provided. The neck has a threaded bore. An annular collar having a generally circular opening is disposed around the neck. A structural layer substantially envelopes the liner and secures the collar to the neck.

In at least one embodiment, a compressed gaseous fuel storage pellet is provided comprising a gas adsorbent material and a thermally conductive material extending substantially an entire dimension of the pellet and having a thermal conductivity of at least 75 W/mK. The pellet may include at least two layers of gas adsorbent material spaced apart along a compression direction of the pellet and a substantially continuous layer of the thermally conductive material disposed between the at least two layers of gas adsorbent material. In one embodiment, the hybrid hydrogen storage system includes: a first hydrogen storage material present at a first volume percent (%) having a first gravimetric capacity and a first volumetric capacity; and a second hydrogen storage material forming an unreacted mixture with the first hydrogen storage material and present at a second volume % being 100 volume % minus the first volume %, the second storage material having a second gravimetric capacity and a second volumetric capacity, the first gravimetric capacity at the first volume % being higher or lower than the second gravimetric capacity at the second volume %, and the first volumetric capacity at the first volume % being the other of higher or lower than the second volumetric capacity at the second volume %.

Hybrid hydrogen storage system and method using the same

A system for integrating and embedding a fuel storage tank in the roof of an automotive vehicle is provided. The automotive vehicle may include a roof assembly having inner roof panels and outer roof panels. The roof panels may define a cavity that protrudes into the passenger compartment below the roof line of the automotive vehicle. A pressurized fuel tank may be disposed within the cavity of the roof assembly.

The invention relates to a fuel retention monitoring system for a pressurized hydrogen storage tank on a vehicle. The vehicle includes a hydrogen dispensing system having a plurality of conduits for carrying a hydrogen gas. The conduits have at least one connection linking them together. The monitoring system includes a vapor concentrator for the hydrogen gas, shrouding a first one of the connections. The first connection has a parting line where the conduits forming the connection meet. The vapor concentrator may be positioned above the parting line of the first connection and may include a periphery and a top defining a headspace cavity. The monitoring system further includes a hydrogen gas sensor locatable adjacent to the headspace cavity and capable of providing a signal correlated to a hydrogen gas concentration in the headspace cavity.

Fuel retention monitoring system for a pressurized hydrogen storage tank on a vehicle and method of use

A gaseous fuel system for an automotive vehicle includes a gaseous fuel storage tank and an associated pressure sensor for monitoring pressurized gas contained within the storage tank. A parameter-driven routine monitors the integrity of the tank by tracking filing cycles marked by the increase of the tank pressure from a first threshold to a second threshold. Mitigation actions may be taken in the event that the filling cycles exceed a predetermined number, or in the event that other system integrity monitoring indicates that mitigation is in order.

A battery tray assembly that includes a first member having a first interface surface and a first battery retaining surface. The first retaining surface retains a top surface of a first battery. A second member having a second interface surface and a second battery retaining surface retains a bottom surface of the second battery. A means for securing the first interface surface to the second interface surface joins the two batteries in a fixed position. The securing means may include a series of projections on one or both separator members and corresponding slots. A greater number of slots than projections enables a plurality of orientations between the first and second members.
