An apparatus for generating a virtual reality environment comprising: controller circuitry configured to: insert a captured image of an object in the virtual reality environment; move the captured image within the virtual reality environment; pause the movement of the captured image in the virtual reality environment; generate a rendered representation of at least part of the captured image; replace the at least part of the captured image with the rendered representation in the virtual reality environment; and move the rendered representation within the virtual reality environment.

An apparatus for generating a graphical representation of a content display in a virtual reality environment, comprising: controller circuitry configured to determine a position of a device relative to a virtual reality headset in the real world, and when the device is at a predetermined position in front of the virtual reality headset, the controller circuitry is further configured to: generate a graphical representation of a content display in the virtual reality environment, the position of the graphical representation in the virtual reality environment being determined by the real world position of the device in front of the virtual reality headset, wherein the size of the graphical representation of a content display is changed in dependence on the position of the distance between the virtual reality headset and the device, wherein, in response to a user input, the controller circuitry is configured to: lock the position of the graphical representation of the content display in the virtual reality environment and, the controller circuitry is further configured, in response to locking the position, a second graphical representation of the content display is created, wherein the position of the second graphical representation of the content display is determined by the real world position of the device in front of the virtual reality headset.

An image processing method includes partitioning an image under test to form a plurality of contiguous image segments having similar image properties, deriving feature data from a subset including one or more of the image segments, and comparing the feature data from the subset of image segments with feature data derived from respective image segments of one or more other images so as to detect a similarity between the image under test and the one or more other images.

An information processing apparatus, comprising: receiver circuitry configured to receive i) a video stream comprising a plurality of images, each image containing at least one object located at a position in a plane and the image having associated image timing information indicating its temporal position in the video stream and ii) a stream of object tracking information each having associated object timing information indicating its temporal position in the stream of object tracking information wherein the stream of object tracking information corresponds to the video stream and separately defines the position of the object in the plane captured in each image in the video stream; and controller circuitry configured to perform pattern matching on the position of each of the objects in the video stream and the object tracking information, and when there is a closest matching position, synchronising the image timing information and the object timing information.

An apparatus for analyzing a video recording of a sporting event, comprising: a video clip generating circuitry operable to, in response to a selection of one of a first timeline element, generate a video clip from a video recording of the sporting event and to output the video clip for display, the video clip being a portion of the video recording of a sporting event temporally extending between a first time and a second time, each of the start time and the end time of a first event record corresponding to the selected first timeline element being within a period defined between the first time and the second time, and the video clip comprising one or more cut out portions of the video recording of the sporting event, each cut-out portion being generated on the basis of participant tracking data of the participant of the sporting event identified by a identifier of the first event record corresponding to the selected first timeline element.

Method, apparatus, and computer-readable medium for superimposing a graphic on a first image generated from cut-out of a second image

An image processing system comprises a first video camera arranged to have a first width of field of view, and operable to capture a first image, a second video camera arranged to have a second width of field of view narrower than that of the first video camera, and operable to capture a second image substantially at the same time that the first camera captures the first image, and an image processing unit operable to access scene geometry for a known scene, with the first video camera and the second video camera being arranged in a pre-set positional relation to each other; the image processing unit is arranged in operation to map scene geometry onto the first image captured by the first video camera, and the image processing unit is arranged in operation to map onto the second image captured by the second video camera at least part of the scene geometry mapped onto the first image, in dependence upon the pre-set positional relation of the first and second video cameras and their respective widths of field of view.

A video surveillance system comprises two or more video cameras each providing a video signal, the cameras each being positioned at a respective known location; a motion detector to detect image motion of an image feature within the field of view of one of the video cameras and for deriving a corresponding physical motion of an object represented by the image feature; and a motion predictor to predict the physical motion of the object with respect to the known locations of the cameras so as to derive an expected time when the object may be observed in the field of view of another one of the video cameras, in which the motion predictor is responsive to routing data defining possible routes from the observed location of the object to the field of view of another of the cameras.

An image processing method introduces a graphical feature or effect into a part of one or more video images of a scene. The scene includes a view of a plurality of objects disposed on an object plane, the part of the video images including one of the plurality of objects on the object plane. The method includes forming a three dimensional model view of the object plane, calculating a transform matrix for transforming points in the model of the object plane into the view of the object plane in the video image, forming the graphical feature or effect in the model of the object plane, transforming the graphical feature or effect from the model to the image view of the object plane using the transform matrix, identifying the one of the plurality of object which is to be viewed within the part of the video image, in which the object is present, and extracting the part of the image view from the video images, into which the graphical feature has been transformed, the extracted part including that part of the feature of effect, which has been transformed from the model. The image processing method provides an improved way of adding a graphical feature or effect to a plane on which a plurality of objects are disposed, so that when a part of the video image, in which one of the plurality of objects, is viewed, the graphical feature or effect appears to the viewer to be a natural scene as if the graphical feature or effect is actually present.

Video processing system and method for introducing graphical features into video images in a scene

A method of generating an event log of game events associated with elements in a sporting event. The method includes tracking, within a sequence of video images, image features which correspond to respective elements in the sporting event and selecting, from the tracked image features, a first image feature which corresponds to one of the elements so as to designate that element as a selected element. The method further includes selecting a game event from an event list of possible game events for association with the selected element, and associating the selected game event with the selected element so as to generate the event log.

Method and apparatus for generating an event log

A method of calculating a transform matrix for transforming points in a model of an object to an image of the object captured by a camera. The camera produces a two dimensional view of the object, the object having a plane, which includes a plurality of lines defining features on the plane of the object. The method comprises identifying a plurality of triplets of points on the lines of the object in the image from the camera, each of the triplets of points providing three or more non co-linear points on the lines of the object. The method includes identifying a sample triplet of points in the model, for each of the identified plurality of triplets of points, calculating a transform matrix which will transform the sample triplet from the model onto the identified triplet of points from the camera image, for each of the identified transform matrices, calculating a transform matrix for transforming a plurality of points on the lines of the object from the model to the image, calculating a comparison metric between the points transformed from the lines of the plane of the object in the model and corresponding points in the image view of the object, and identifying the transform matrix which produces the best comparison metric. The identified transform matrix can therefore be used to transform points on the model into the image produced by the camera, or points in the image onto the model.

Video processing system and method

A method of extracting image features from objects on a plane within video images; detecting the objects from a relative position on the plane by comparing the extracted image features with sample image features; and generating object identification data identifying the objects on the plane. The method includes generating a 3D model of the plane and logging object identification data and object path data, the object path data including a time history of object position on the 3D model and a path of the objects within the video images. The method also includes detecting an occlusion event indicating whether object features are occluded; associating object identification data with object path data for objects in the occlusion event; identifying one of the objects involved in the occlusion event by comparing the objects image features and the sample image features; and updating the path data after the identification.
