A media distribution system and method wherein a media streaming network includes a media ingest network portion configured to provide low latency uploading of media fragments of a segmented live media stream using HTTP chunked transfer encoding (CTE). In one embodiment, one or more fragments of a segment are uploaded or otherwise ingested on a chunk-by-chunk basis before entire media data of the segment becomes available. An IP multicast distribution network portion coupled to the media ingest network portion is operative for distributing chunked media data to one or more IP multicast recipients using an IP multicast protocol. A client application is operative to download the media data in an HTTP CTE delivery session with a serving IP multicast recipient.

Low latency media ingestion system, devices and methods

There is provided mechanisms for handling content delivery in a client node. A method being performed by the client node. The method comprises registering, by an application entity of the client node and with an MBMS entity of the client node, for enabling the client node to receive content delivered by encrypted unicast transmission and to receive the content delivered by broadcast transmission. The method comprises selectively controlling, by a trusted entity of the client node, reception of the content in a media player of the client node between reception of the encrypted unicast transmission and broadcast transmission depending on whether the content is available or not for reception on the broadcast transmission.

It is presented a method for enabling transmission of streaming content in a point to multipoint delivery. The method is performed in a radio network node of a cellular network. A method is disclosed for execution by an apparatus of a multimedia delivery system when distributing streamed media content via UDP. The method includes receiving media content, distributed in a plurality of files, from at least one media source, and identifying, from the received files, associated files including at least one audio file and at least one video file. The method further includes combining the associated files into one source block and encoding the content of the source block. A manifest file describing the content of the source block is then generated. The manifest file and the associated source block are transmitted. Related methods for decoding and separating the combined files in a UE are also provided.

The present disclosure relates to a technique for scheduling a point-to-multipoint (PTM) transmission of content data, provided by a content provider node, to a plurality of mobile terminals in a PTM-enabled network. A method embodiment comprises the steps of: receiving, by a PTM transmission control node, delivery schedule information from the content provider node, the delivery schedule information indicating a delivery time at which at least a portion of the content data is to be receivable by the plurality of mobile terminals; and determining, by the PTM transmission control node, a transmission start time for starting the transmission of the content data to one or more of the plurality of mobile terminals located in a service area of the PTM transmission control node, wherein the transmission start time is determined based on the delivery time and one or more system delay parameters.
