A monitoring device operable to provide information on data obtained from sensors operably connected between a patient and the device is provided that includes a central processing unit configured to receive incoming data signals from sensors concerning physiological parameters of the patient to compare the incoming data signals to predetermined alarm limits for the physiological parameters to determine an alarm condition and an analytics engine operably connected to the central processing unit and selectively operable to provide predictions of adverse events using the incoming data signals. The central processing unit is configured to alter the alarm limits for at least one of the physiological parameters in response to the activation of the analytics engine to reduce clinically irrelevant alarms.

Optimization of patient alarm settings for monitoring devices utilizing analytics

A method of adjusting event detection and alarm generation sensitivity settings of a patient monitoring system includes receiving physiological information from a patient, determining an acuity level of the patient in dependence upon the physiological information received, and at least one of automatically updating a sensitivity setting for a system action in dependence upon the determined acuity level of the patient or prompting a user to manually update the sensitivity setting for the system action in dependence upon the determined acuity level.

System and method for physiological monitoring

The system and method of the present application includes a wireless transmitter adapted to receive physiological signals from a patient and to wirelessly transmit the physiological signals to a receiver, where a display device prepares the physiological signal for display on a display monitor. In one embodiment, both the wireless transmitter and receiver further include an estimation algorithm module. The estimation algorithm module in each of the wireless transmitter and the receiver calculate a physiological signal based on a collected signal. The system displays the calculated, estimated signal unless the error of the estimated signal reaches a predetermined threshold. When the estimated signal is being displayed, no transmission from the wireless transmitter is necessary.

Method and system for reducing transmitter power consumption while avoiding delay of displayed information

A patient monitoring system has a patient monitor with a screen and mainstream gas input connector configured to receive a mainstream gas concentration signal from a mainstream gas analyzer. A sidestream gas analyzer has an output connector and is configured to transmit a sidestream gas concentration signal via the output connector. The patient monitor receives the sidestream gas concentration signal via the mainstream gas input connector for display on the screen.

Apparatus for monitoring gas concentrations

A method and an apparatus for informing a system user that the full charge capacity of the battery is less than the design capacity. One horizontal fuel gauge icon for each battery is displayed on the host system display panel. The fuel gauge is displayed as three overlapping rectangles which are left justified. The first layer is a dashed outline, always the same width, representing the design capacity of the battery. The second layer is a solid outline representing the full capacity as a percentage of the design capacity. As a battery wears, this level will become a smaller percentage of the full rated capacity indicated by the dashed line. The third layer is a filled rectangle representing the present (actual) capacity as a percentage of the full capacity.

Battery fuel gauge for display in battery-powered equipment

A method and apparatus are provided for distributing power within a cardiac treatment and monitoring system which includes a defibrillator releasably coupled to a patient monitoring unit. The method includes the steps of determining a battery reserve capacity within the patient monitoring unit and distributing power from the patient monitoring system to a defibrillator when the determined battery reserve capacity exceeds a threshold value.
