A filter system can include a replaceable filter cartridge having a spinner element structured to swirl a mixed flow of compressible fluid and oil, as well as an end cap used to enclose an open interior of a filter media of the filter cartridge. The filter cartridge can be configured to interface with and be supported by a mesh holder. A housing can be attached over the filter cartridge to enclose the system and create a flow path for a mixed flow of compressible fluid and oil. The replaceable filter cartridge can be constructed of materials suitable for disposal in a waste incineration process. The mesh holder can be inserted on a combo-block and secured in place by a compression fitting. A stand pipe can extend into the interior of the filter media and be coupled with a central passage of the mesh holder.

A positive displacement roots blower can include a housing having an inlet structured to receive an incoming flow of a fluid, an outlet structured to receive an outgoing flow of the fluid, and a passage. The positive displacement roots blower can also include a pair of intermeshed rotating members supported for complementary rotation within the housing, where the rotating members and the housing form respective operating volumes there between which rotate with the rotating members. Each of the respective operating volumes has the following regions: (1) open to inlet/closed to outlet; (2) closed to inlet/closed to outlet; and (3) closed to inlet/open to outlet. The passage includes a restriction and connects to at least one of the operating volumes when the at least one of the respective operating volumes is in region (2). The restriction can be a venturi feedback connecting to the outlet.

Positive displacement roots blower noise suppression

A vacuum roots blower includes a rotor capable of being rotated to capture a gas from an inlet and further rotated to discharge the captured gas from an outlet. The captured gas is held within a pocket formed between lobes of the rotor and the adjacent housing within which the rotor is rotated. The vacuum roots blower includes a pressure relief system capable of delivering a pressure relief gas to the pocket. The pressure relief system includes a sonic passage structured to produce a choked flow condition as the pressure relief system fills the pocket with pressure relief gas. In one form the pressure relief gas can be a cooling gas, but other forms such as ambient air are also contemplated.

Vacuum pump with noise attenuating passage

A pressure pulse dampener for a compressor system is disclosed herein. The pulse dampener includes a housing having inlet passageway and an outlet passageway. A radially expanding annular passageway is formed downstream of the fluid inlet. A toroidal passageway is formed downstream of the annular passageway, the toroidal passageway being configured to direct fluid in a generally circumferential path around the central body. A connecting passageway is formed through the central body to provide fluid communication between the toroidal passageway and the fluid outlet.

Aerodynamic pressure pulsation dampener

A system is disclosed wherein a pressure pulse dampener is in fluid communication with a compressed fluid. The pulse dampener being operable for reducing pressure pulsations within the fluid. In some embodiments a check valve can be in fluid communication with the pulse dampener to prevent reverse flow of the compressed fluid.

An impact moisture separator for separating a liquid moisture from a compressed gas. The impact moisture separator includes a plurality of impact plates that are positioned within the inner region of the separator and may be downstream of at least one strut. The strut may be configured to disperse the flow of compressed gas. The impact plates each have a plurality of vanes that extend beyond a plate portion of the impact plates. The vanes are configured to provide a passage for the flow of compressed gases and are offset from the vanes of the adjacent, successive impact plate. Further, the impact plates and strut(s) are tilted toward the incoming flow of compressed gas so as to assist in influencing the downward flow of the compressed gas, and thereby facilitate the flow of separated liquid moisture toward a reservoir of the housing.

Impact moisture separator

A modular silencer for use on a compressor or blower mounted on a vehicle. The compressor has an intake port and an exhaust port, and the silencer has an inlet port in communication with the exhaust port of the compressor. The silencer includes a silencer housing and a resonator assembly removably positioned inside the housing. In one embodiment, the compressor includes a compressor housing and a power input shaft protruding from the compressor housing adjacent the air exhaust port. The silencer housing preferably includes a concave portion that at least partially receives the power input shaft. The silencer housing can also include a groove on the inner surface, and the resonator assembly can be at least partially positioned in the groove. Preferably, the resonator assembly includes a resonator plate, a plurality of resonator pipes extending through the plate, and a reinforcing flange coupled between at least two of the resonator pipes.

Modular discharge silencer for vehicle-mounted compressor

In one form, a compressor system includes a compressor, and an annular ring disposed downstream of the compressor and structured to reduce pressure fluctuations in the pressurized air discharged by the compressor. The annular ring may include an internal passage for conducting the pressurized air. The annular ring may include at least one resonator in fluid communication with the internal passage. Further embodiments, forms, features, aspects, benefits, and advantages of the present application will become apparent from the description and figures provided herewith.

A method of attenuating fluid dynamic pulsations that propagate through a flow of fluid at a convective velocity of the fluid, the pulsations having an organized vortical structure includes directing the flow to a pulsation dampener inlet having a first area and transitioning the organized vortical structure to a small-scale turbulent structure by squeezing the vorticies by passing the flow of fluid through a passage having a second area that is smaller than the first area, then rapidly expanding the flow of fluid by passing it into a chamber having a third area measured at an inlet of the chamber that is substantially larger than the second area. The method also includes discharging the flow of fluid from the chamber. The flow of fluid includes substantially attenuated fluid dynamic pulsations and acoustic pulsations that travel through the flow of fluid at the speed of sound.

Double throat pulsation dampener for a compressor

A separator for separating a liquid-gas flow into a liquid and a compressed gas includes a housing that defines an inner space and that is adapted to contain the full pressure of the compressed gas. The housing includes a liquid-gas inlet, a liquid outlet, and a gas outlet. A first stage separator is positioned to receive the liquid-gas flow from the inlet. The first stage separator is operable to separate a first portion of the liquid from the liquid-gas flow. A second stage separator includes a swirl vane separator and is positioned to receive the liquid-gas flow from the first stage separator and is operable to separate a second portion of the liquid from the liquid-gas flow. A third stage separator is positioned to receive the liquid-gas flow from the swirl vane separator and is operable to separate a third portion of the liquid from the liquid-gas flow. The first stage separator, the second stage separator, and the third stage separator are completely contained within the housing.

Multi-stage oil separation system including a cyclonic separation stage

A pulsation dampener for receiving a fluid medium containing pressure pulsations. The pulsation dampener can include a body having an inner surface, an inlet, and an outlet, and a fluid path defined at least partially by the inner surface of the body. The fluid path can include a first chamber in fluid communication with the inlet and having a first cross-sectional area, a second chamber positioned adjacent the first chamber and having a second cross-sectional area different from the first cross-sectional area, and a third chamber in fluid communication with the outlet and positioned adjacent the second chamber opposite the first chamber and having a third cross-sectional area different from the second cross-sectional area. The fluid path can be configured such that the second cross-sectional area is greater than the first cross-sectional area and the third cross-sectional area.

An air compressor unit having an enclosure that permits adequate cooling air flow, and reduces the amount of noise that emanates from the air compressor unit. The enclosure has a partition that separates the interior of the enclosure into two compartments: a discharge compartment and a component compartment. A discharge aperture is in fluid flow communication with the discharge compartment. A compressor and motor are contained in the component compartment. The component compartment may be separated in a first compartment and a second compartment. Inlets allow cooling air to enter the enclosure, and a discharge aperture permits the cooling air to exit the enclosure. A blower draws cooling air into the enclosure through the inlets. An aftercooler is located between the compressor and the discharge aperture. The enclosure and compartments are configured to reduce the amount of direct &ldquo;line of sight&rdquo; noise that emanates from the air compressor unit.

A compressor system having a first compartment for housing relatively quietly operating equipment, and a second compartment for housing relatively noisy operating equipment. The second compartment is substantially closed off from the surrounding atmosphere to reduce the amount of noise that can be heard outside the compressor system on account of the noisy equipment operating within the compressor system housing. The second compartment includes a small air inlet opening and a small air outlet opening to allow enough air to flow through the second compartment to cool the equipment housed therein. The small openings reduce the amount of air-born noise which is released to the outside environment. The compressor system also has an air intake directing device for directing an appropriate amount of air into the second compartment to cool the noise generating machinery located within the second compartment, and for directing an appropriate amount of air to an air inlet opening of a compressor, thereby more efficiently using the air drawn into the compressor system housing.
