An assembly for releasably connecting a roof bar to a roof of a vehicle. The assembly includes a body which is affixed to the roof bar, a base which is affixed to the roof and has a receiving portion for receiving a portion of the body, a locking pin slidably engaged with the body and the base, and slidable along an axis between a locked position and an unlocked position. In the locked position, the locking in engages the body and the base. In the unlocked position, the locking pin engages the body or the base. The assembly also has an actuator movable along the axis to slide the locking pin between the locked position and the unlocked position, thereby selectively engaging the body with the base.

The invention provides a fastener () for releasably securing a first element, such as an air bag () to a second element such as a bracket () located in a vehicle. Fastener () has a locking pin () which is movable between a locked position and a release position. Locking pin () has an engageable head (). Fastener () includes clip () for engaging head (). Locking pin () is biased to the release position, for example, by spring (). Fastener () includes an actuator such as spring (), comprising or including shape memory alloy and adapted to elongate upon application of appropriate energy. When spring () is elongated, it causes locking pin () to move to the release position. The invention also provides a fastener assembly () including at least one post () having a groove (). Fastener assembly () includes a bar or latch, for example, in the form of wire () adapted to engage the groove (). Attached to bar () is connecting means, such as shape memory spring (). Upon application of suitable energy, spring () is adapted to change shape and draw bar () out of engagement with groove ().

Fastener for air bags and other uses

The invention provides in a first aspect a closure () for a passageway such as a bottleneck. The closure () has a concertina element (). When the concertina element () is released, the closure () can be removed from the passageway. The concertina element () may have folds (), including compressible folds, may be in the form of a spiral. In a further aspect, the invention provides a second aspect a closure (), which has a processing (). The processing () may include a computer chip (), is adapted to receive or convey various types of data, such as characteristics of the contents of the container closed by the closure (). The first and second aspects may be combined.

Closure with concertina element and processing means

There is provided an adjustment device for adjusting the vertical height of, for example, studs, furniture and large appliances. The device has a base (), a pine () upstanding from and supported by the base and a rotatable cam element (). The pin has a number of grooves () and the cam is capable of engaging one or more of the grooves to alter the distance between the base and cam. Also disclosed is a stud or mullion () having two sets of channels, each of which is adapted to receive a cooperating means for mounting a panel or bracket. The sets of channels are parallel to each other and spaced apart by parallel spaced webs (). The adjustment device may be inserted in the stud or mullion. Further disclosed is a joining clip (not illustrated) for mounting a panel or bracket to the stud or mullion. The clip is in two parts, one part has means to connect the clip to the panel and the other has a pair of resilient arms and is able to mate with the first part.
