A microchannel condenser includes a first header, the first header including a body defining an interior and further defining an inlet bore and a first outlet bore, and a second header spaced apart from the first header, the second header including a body defining an interior and further defining a second outlet bore. The microchannel condenser further includes a conduit in fluid communication with the second outlet bore. The microchannel condenser further includes a plurality of tubes extending between the first header and the second header, each of the plurality of tubes defining a plurality of microchannels, each of the plurality of microchannels in fluid communication with the interior of the first header and the interior of the second header, each of the plurality of microchannels having a maximum cross-sectional width of less than or equal to 5 millimeters.

Microchannel condenser and dual evaporator refrigeration system

An evaporator for an appliance includes a conduit extending between an inlet and an outlet. The conduit has a diameter. The diameter of the conduit is less than three-eighths of an inch. A vapor bypass is mounted to the conduit such that the vapor bypass extends between the inlet of the conduit and the outlet of the conduit. The vapor bypass has a diameter. The diameter of the vapor bypass is less than the diameter of the conduit.

Evaporator for an appliance

A packaged terminal air conditioner unit is provided. The packaged terminal air conditioner unit includes a casing. A compressor, an interior coil, an exterior coil and a reversing valve are positioned within the casing. The reversing valve is configured for selectively reversing a flow direction of compressed refrigerant from the compressor. The packaged terminal air conditioner also includes at least one phase separator and at least one ejector.

Packaged terminal air conditioner unit

Air conditioner units and operating methods are provided. A unit includes an outdoor heat exchanger, an indoor heat exchanger, and a compressor. The unit further includes a bulkhead disposed between the outdoor heat exchanger and the indoor heat exchanger. The unit further includes a vent aperture defined in the bulkhead. The unit further includes a dehumidification system which includes an evaporator, a condenser, and an auxiliary compressor in fluid communication with the evaporator and the condenser. The unit further includes a humidity sensor disposed within the outdoor portion, and a controller in communication with the compressor, the auxiliary compressor and the humidity sensor. The controller is configured to deactivate the auxiliary compressor when the compressor is active and an outdoor humidity level sensed by the humidity sensor is above a predetermined humidity threshold.

Air conditioner units having improved make-up air module communication

Refrigeration systems and appliances are provided. A refrigeration system includes a refrigerant, the refrigerant including a working fluid and an electrochemically active fluid. The refrigeration system further includes a condenser, an evaporator, and an electrochemical compressor in fluid communication with the condenser and the evaporator. The refrigeration system can further include various components which advantageously reduce the energy consumption and increase the predicatability and efficiency of the refrigeration system.

Electrochemical refrigeration systems and appliances

Water heater appliances and methods for operating water heater appliances are provided. A water heater appliance includes a tank defining an interior volume, and a sealed system for heating water within the interior volume. The sealed system includes a compressor operable to compress refrigerant, and a first condenser downstream of and in fluid communication with the compressor. The first condenser is operable to heat water within the interior volume using energy from the refrigerant. The sealed system further includes a second condenser downstream of and in fluid communication with the first condenser. The second condenser is operable to heat water within the interior volume using energy from the refrigerant. The sealed system further includes an evaporator between and in fluid communication with the second condenser and the compressor.

Water heater appliances and methods for operating same

A refrigerated display case reduces the temperature of refrigerated items in the front of the case and achieves a tighter temperature range within the case. Air drawn from a cooler is further cooled by a coil. Some of the cold air is discharged along the front of the case as an air curtain is and drawn by fans back into the cooler. The remaining cold air is directed to a duct in the rear of the case. Openings in the duct allow air to flow across the refrigerated items towards the front of the case, further reducing the temperature of the refrigerated items in the front of the case. To prevent refrigerated items in the rear of the case from freezing, air entering the duct is warmed with air that bypasses the coil.

A refrigerated merchandiser includes a display casehaving an open front and defining a product display spacewherein productis hung for display and customer access on a peg bar support system. Refrigerated air passes into the product display spacethrough a back panelperforated with air inlet holes. A baffle platelies superadjacent the peg bar support systemand is positioned relative thereto so as to provide an airflow gapbetween its rearward edgeand the back paneland an airflow gapbetween its forward edgeand the tag mouldingof the peg bar support system. Refrigerated air passes through the rearward and forward airflow gaps to cool the product displayed on the peg bar support system. Additionally, the baffle plate may be perforated with a plurality of holes to provide additional airflow passagesthrough which further refrigerated air may pass to cool the product displayed on the peg bar support system.

A system for controlling temperatures in and the flow of air between freezer and fresh food compartments of a refrigerator incorporates a thermal mass that is adapted to receive a flow of air directed from the freezer compartment to the fresh food compartment. The thermal mass is associated with a temperature sensor that is connected to a manually adjustable thermostat unit. In the preferred embodiment, the temperature sensor comprises a capillary tube which is wrapped around an outer surface portion of the thermal mass. Structure is provided in the air passageway between the freezer and fresh food compartments to regulate the flow of air over the thermal mass. By regulating the flow over the thermal mass, as well as establishing a desired thermal mass size and location, the control system can achieve desired operational cycles in order to minimize energy consumption and to minimize any variance of the number of cycles over a given period of time between various refrigerator units.
