A method and system for providing advertising effectiveness searching capabilities, predictive modeling capabilities and usage mining in a location-based services system is disclosed. During operation of the location-based services system, usage information for advertising campaigns placed on the location-based services system is stored. Advertisers are provided with the ability to enter a search request form on a remote terminal to mine the usage information. The search request is then transmitted to an application that searches usage information to generate a response to said search request.

Passive mining of usage information in a location-based services system

The present invention includes a virtual customer database system for delivering personalized services to a consumer operating a communication device. The virtual customer database system includes an administrator and a distributed database. The distributed database may be selectively loaded by the administrator with customer related information extracted from participating businesses. The distributed database includes secure databases associated with each participating business and a public participant database. The administrator may process push and pull service requests by selectively querying the distributed database. Sensitive customer specific information may remain with each corresponding participating business while responses to the requests may include personalized customer specific information provided via a common interface standard.

A service authorizer system for pushing and pulling data service authorization requests to wireless terminals is disclosed herein. The wireless terminal or a service authorization server may generate requests for authorization. The wireless terminal may generate a request for authorization that is sent to the service authorization server, which generates a multi-modal response and transmits the multi-modal response to the user. The service authorization server may also generate a multi-modal request for authorization that is sent to the wireless terminal.

The present invention discloses a method and system for creating advertising content and business listing content in a location-based services system. An advertising campaign or a business listing is created with a business remote terminal using a campaign management interface application or a business profile interface application. The advertising campaign or business listing is then transmitted to an advertiser portal. The advertiser portal then directs the advertising campaign or business listing to a create campaign application or a business profile application for processing. The advertising campaign or business listing is then stored in a business database or a business profile database using a data access component.

A system and method for tracking purchases in a location-based services system is disclosed wherein a request for information on a particular product is received from a consumer using a remote terminal. A geographically tailored response to the request is then generated with the location-based services system. At least one offer is then displayed to the consumer based on the geographically tailored response. An acceptance of a respective offer made by the consumer is then processed by the location-based services system and information is stored about the transaction in a usage data file or database.

A information assistance application is disclosed for use in a wireless communication environment. A requestor terminal is operable to generate a request for an information record associated with a subscriber terminal. The request is transmitted from the requestor terminal to an information assistance application server. The information assistance application server processes the request to determine the identity of the person for whom information has been requested and to determine how to contact the subscriber terminal. A message is generated and sent to the subscriber terminal requesting permission to provide the requester terminal with the requested information. If the subscriber terminal replies with an indication that the information may be provided, then the information application server generates a message that includes the information being requested and transmits it to the requestor terminal.

Directory assistance with multi-modal messaging

A method and system for routing call failures in a location-based services system. A remote terminal is connected to a location-based services system and is used to generate a voice-based tailored request for information. The voice-based tailored request for information is interpreted with a voice recognition application and a natural language processing application. If the voice recognition application or the natural language processing application fail to determine the meaning of the tailored request for information to a predetermined level of accuracy then the remote terminal is routed to a call center.

Routing call failures in a location-based services system

A system and method for providing multi-modal messaging for a wireless communication system. A wireless terminal is connected to a wireless access network, wherein the wireless terminal is capable of generating a voice request. A multi-modal message server is connected to the wireless access network for receiving the voice request generated by a user of the remote terminal. A voice recognition application is operable to identify words contained in the voice request. A response generation application uses the identified words to generate a response to the voice request. A unified messaging application is operable to interpret the response and generate a first and second response that is based on the contents of the response generated by the response generation application. The first and second responses are then transmitted to the wireless terminal in different communication formats.

Multi-modal messaging

A method and system for generating multi-modal callback messages for a user of a wireless terminal connected to an access network. A multi-modal response is generated in response to a request for information with a multi-modal callback server. The multi-modal response is transmitted to the wireless terminal using the access network. A text-based response is included in the multi-modal response that includes a means for allowing a predetermined portion of the multi-modal response to be read aloud to the user of the wireless terminal or another message may be read aloud to the user.

The present invention discloses a method and system for providing location-based services to a remote terminal that is connected to various types of communication systems. A tailored request for information is generated with the remote terminal. In addition, a geographic indicator associated with the remote terminal is also generated in the preferred embodiment. The tailored request for information and the geographic indicator are transmitted to a location-based application server. A structured response to the tailored request for information is generated with the location-based application server, wherein the structured response is based on the geographic indicator of the remote terminal. The structured response is the transmitted to the remote terminal using one of several different types of communication protocols and/or mediums.
