Various embodiments include gas turbine seals and methods of forming such seals. In some cases, a turbine includes: a first arcuate component adjacent to a second arcuate component, each arcuate component including one or more slots located in an end face, each of the one or more slots having a plurality of axial surfaces and radially facing surfaces extending from opposite ends of the axial surfaces and a seal assembly disposed in the slot. The seal assembly including a backup intersegment seal disposed in the slot on a high-pressure side of the slot and a shim seal disposed in the slot over the backup intersegment seal and covering the backup intersegment seal on a low-pressure side of the slot. The shim seal including one or more shim seal segments and having a gap formed between each of the one or more shim seal segments.

The present invention is a coated article containing at least two adjacent cooling holes that are substantially uncoated. In an embodiment, the coated article includes a base material, an outer surface and a coating on a portion of the outer surface. Here, the adjacent cooling holes are arranged along an axis on the outer surface and extend within the base material at an angle to the outer surface. The coating may include at least one unfinished edge oriented substantially parallel to the axis and set off at an oblique angle and a distance from the adjacent cooling holes.

Coated article

A method and system for forming a product including a layer of fiber to a surface of a mold is provided. The system includes a mold and an apparatus. The mold is configured to rotate about an axis of rotation. An apparatus includes a base and a head coupled to the base. The base is configured to rotate about the axis of rotation. The head is configured to apply the fiber to the surface of the mold to form the product. The product includes at least one layer including at least one fiber applied using centrifugal force.
