In an approach, a processor receives input data comprising: (i) a code level for an update, (ii) a scheduled time for the update; (iii) a target system for the update, and (iv) authorization data, where the authorization data: (i) allows for scheduling of the update and (ii) is provided via a channel external from a connection to the target system without an inbound connection. A processor receives a set of data from the target system. A processor, responsive to receiving the set of data from the target system, sends a response packet to the target system that includes the input data. A processor receives, at the scheduled time, a request to process the update. A processor, responsive to the request, sends code for processing the update corresponding to the code level for the update. A processor receives status messages corresponding to progress of the update.

Remote system update and monitoring without inbound connection

Embodiments include method, systems and computer program products for preventing unauthorized resource updates. In some embodiments, it may be determined that a mainframe computer is not within a service period. A control file may be obtained and decrypted. Using the decrypted control file, the mainframe computer may be determined to be authorized. An available resource update file may be selected based on a determination that the mainframe computer is authorized. An update to a resource of the mainframe computer may be facilitated based on the available resource update file.

Prevention of unauthorized resource updates

A web browser loads and displays a web page and reads the html of the web page to identify an entry for a link which is marked for pre-loading. Then, the web browser automatically pre-loads into memory another html and associated graphics files corresponding to this link. This automatic pre-loading occurs without the link being selected by a user of the web browser. If the user subsequently selects the link, then the corresponding html and associated graphics files will be available from local memory so there is little delay in fetching the html and associated graphics files.

System and method for controlling the contents of a browser cache. A data stream from a host server to a client browser includes a clear cache tag. Responsive to the clear cache tag, the browser clears its cache. The data stream may also include a start cache tag, and one or more data files which are cached by the client browser. Responsive to the clear cache tag, the browser cache is cleared of data files received in the data stream between the start cache tag and the clear cache tag, or alternatively of all data files in cache associated with a cache identifier received in the start cache and clear cache tags. Either the client local file system or a field in a cache table is used to differentiate between successive start cache tags.

System and method for server control of client cache

A a client web browser receives a first user selection of a link displayed on a web page. The first user selection indicates a preference by the user for deferred display of another web page corresponding to the link. In response to the first user selection, the web browser loads the other web page from a server or other remote repository into a memory device local to the client web browser. Next, the user makes a second selection of the link (after the first user selection). The second user selection indicates a preference by the user for immediate display of this other web page. In response, the web browser fetches and displays this other web page from the local memory. However, if the user selected another link in the originally displayed web page, after the first user selection but before the second user selection and while the other web page is being loaded into the memory device, the web browser would have halted loading of this other web page and instead load and display a third web page corresponding to the other link.
