A heat exchanger for use in high pressure environments, such as in a gas turbine engine, includes an outer casing, a tubular element within the outer casing and an inner sleeve within the tubular element. The tubular element has an outer surface and an inner surface. The outer casing and outer surface of the tubular element define a first annular passage through which a first fluid flow path extends. The inner sleeve and inner surface of the tubular element define a second annular passage through which a second fluid flow path extends. The first annular passage is sealed against the outer surface of the tubular element and the second annular passage is sealed within the inner surface of the tubular element.

A gas turbine engine includes an inner shaft extending axially along the gas turbine engine, a plurality of disks extending radially inwardly and toward the inner shaft, at least one hole in at least one of the plurality of disks, and an obstruction positioned between the inner shaft and an end of the disk having the at least one hole, such that a bore flow that flows along an axial length of the inner shaft is obstructed from flowing along the shaft by the obstruction, and forced to flow radially outward from the obstruction, through the at least one hole, and radially inward toward the inner shaft.

The present invention provides a retaining washer for retaining threaded fasteners, such as bolts, that have been inadvertently loosened, in use. The invention finds particular application in gas turbine engines and in aircraft in general where wire locking of threaded fasteners has traditionally been employed. The washer () comprises a base member () having a plurality of apertures () each for receiving the shank of a respective bolt () or stud part of a threaded fastener, and engagement means () extending from the base member for engagement with respective bolt head or nut parts of the fasteners to retain the said head or nut parts with respect to the washer in the event of inadvertent loosening. The said engagement means is deformable between an open configuration which enables access to the bolt head or nut parts of the fasteners for tightening and/or removal thereof and a closed configuration in which the bolt head or nut part are captively retained with the washer.

Retaining washer for threaded fasteners

A duct comprising an inner casing spaced apart from an outer casing and which also comprises a number of interfaced duct sections must be assembled in such a way to prevent relative redial movement between the casings and thereby inhibit buckling. The present invention is a duct which utilises abutment members which longitudinally extend from each of the inner walls across the interface of the duct sections. The abutment members are radially spaced apart in normal use but are configured such that substantially relative radial movement of the inner and outer walls is prevented when the overlapping members abut.
