An electromagnetic shield terminal assembly configured for attachment to a shielded cable includes a tubular inner ferrule having a flared attachment end configured to be disposed intermediate the shield conductor and the inner insulation layer of the cable and a crimped outer ferrule formed of sheet metal having a cable attachment portion that defines a pair of bypass crimp wings and a pair of insulation crimp wings. Each insulation crimp wing defines a prong having a pointed end that penetrates the outer insulation layer of the cable. The flared attachment end of the inner ferrule is located intermediate the bypass crimp wings and the insulation crimp wings when the outer ferrule is crimped to the shielded cable.

Sheilded cable assembly and electromagnetic shield terminal assembly for same

A method of forming a shielded electrical terminal configured to receive a corresponding shielded electrical terminal. The terminal includes an inner shield defining a shield cavity about a longitudinal axis. The shield cavity is configured to receive the corresponding shielded electrical terminal. The inner shield has a longitudinal inner seam substantially that is parallel to the longitudinal axis. The inner shield defines a plurality of resilient contact springs that protrude into the shield cavity. The contact springs are configured to contact the corresponding shielded electrical terminal. The terminal also includes an outer shield integrally formed with the inner shield and covering at least a portion of the inner shield. The terminal formed by this method is also presented.

Method for forming a shielded electrical terminal and an electrical terminal formed by said method

An assembly includes an elongate conductor, such as a coaxial electrical cable, having a generally circular cross section and a generally cylindrical seamless outer ferrule having a ferrule radius surrounding a portion of the conductor. The outer ferrule is deformed to define four indentations and four projections that are evenly spaced about a circumference of the outer ferrule. The four indentations have a consistent indentation radius that is less than the ferrule radius.

A coaxial connector assembly is described herein. The coaxial connector assembly includes an inner contact that is configured to terminate a center conductor of a coaxial cable, an insulative inner sleeve holding the inner contact, a tubular outer contact surrounding the inner sleeve and the inner contact, said outer contact configured to terminate a shield braid of the coaxial cable and an insulative cylindrical outer sleeve defining a central cavity extending longitudinally therethrough in which said outer contact is disposed. The cavity has an opening configured to receive a corresponding coaxial connector. A lip on a forward end of the outer sleeve extends into the opening such that a forward edge of the outer contact is not exposed within the opening. The coaxial connector assembly may be configured to meet the FAKRA connector standards.

An electronic assembly comprises a printed circuit board that has an electronic component that is attached mechanically and electrically to the printed circuit board by soldering. A plastic header connector covers the electronic component and provides a socket for the electronic component when the plastic header connector is attached to the printed circuit board solely by portions of the plastic header connector.

An electrical connector has a connector body in the form of a molded plastic pass through article that has a cylindrical portion that is inserted into a panel hole. The article has a flange at one end of the cylindrical portion engaging an insertion side of the panel, and a plurality of supports extending from an opposite end of the cylindrical portion in an axial direction away from the cylindrical portion. A plurality of flexible transverse lock arms are attached to the plurality of supports and extend therefrom in cantilever fashion. The plurality of flexible transverse lock arms are spaced from the cylindrical portion in the axial direction and terminate in lock feet that engage the back side of the panel.
