Lug assemblies include a housing with at least one internal printed circuit board with electronics and lugs. The lugs attach to cables providing power/current. The printed circuit board includes at least one electrical ground connector and at least one electrical contact connector. The lug assemblies include terminals that indirectly electrically couple the cables to terminals of switching devices such as circuit breakers.

Lug assemblies and related electrical apparatus and methods

A line terminal is for an electrical switching apparatus. The electrical switching apparatus includes a stationary contact and a movable contact structured to move into and out of engagement with the stationary contact in order to close and open the electrical switching apparatus, respectively. The line terminal includes a lip portion structured to be connected to the stationary contact in order to provide an electrical pathway therebetween; an arm portion extending from the lip portion, the arm portion having an engaging portion structured to receive and engage a conductive post member and provide an electrical pathway between the conductive post member and the stationary contact; a neck portion extending from the arm portion; and a tab portion extending from the neck portion and being located internal with respect to the engaging portion.

Circuit breaker having line terminal and associated indicating method

A device for removing contaminants from a bus stab of an electrical enclosure is provided. The electrical enclosure includes an electrical bus member disposed in a first plane. The bus stab extends outwardly from the electrical bus member and is disposed in a second plane perpendicular to the first plane. The device includes a gripping assembly and a scraping assembly coupled thereto, the scraping assembly comprising a number of flexible members structured to scrape and thereby clean the bus stab, the device being structured to move in a direction parallel to the second plane when the flexible members scrape the bus stab.

Decontamination device and method for removing contaminants from electrical apparatus

An adapter assembly is for a switching device assembly of an electrical system. The electrical system includes a bus assembly. The switching device assembly includes at least one cable and at least one electrical switching apparatus. The cable is electrically connected to the bus assembly. The electrical switching apparatus has a switching device lug member, a switching device lug fastener, and a load terminal. The switching device lug fastener connects the load terminal to the switching device lug member. The adapter assembly includes: a housing assembly having a base member; and at least one interconnect assembly including: an adapter lug member coupled to the base member, the adapter lug member receiving the cable, an adapter fastener securing the cable to the adapter lug member, and an adapter terminal coupled to the adapter lug member and the switching device lug member in order to provide an electrical pathway therebetween.

Switching device assembly and adapter assembly therefor

An electrical surge protection device is structured to be installed on an electrical enclosure and to be electrically connected between one or more line conductors and one or more ground or neutral conductors. The electrical surge protection device includes a support that is structured to be installed on the electrical enclosure and a number of varistors or other electrical components that will, in the event of a voltage surge on a line conductor, shunt electrical energy from the voltage surge to the ground or neutral conductor with which it is connected. The electrical surge protection device advantageously further includes a shield apparatus that is structured to restrain an increased ambient pressure and that is electrically conductive and is electrically connected with the ground or neutral conductor.

A lock pin assembly is provided. The lock pin assembly is structured to coupled a panel board device to a panel board. The panel board device includes a body defining a number of mounting passages. The lock pin assembly includes an elongated body, a first radial extension, and, in an exemplary embodiment, a biasing device. The lock pin body is rotatably disposed in the panel board device mounting passage. The lock pin body is moved between an unlocked, first radial position, wherein said first radial extension does not engage a panel board back plate mounting tab, and a locked, second radial position, wherein said first radial extension engages a panel board back plate mounting tab.

An interface assembly for a panel board is provided. The interface assembly includes an interface assembly body and a number of conductor assemblies. The interface assembly body includes a front side and a back side, said body further defining a number of conductor passages. Each conductor passage extends from said interface assembly body front side to said body back side. The conductor assemblies each includes a stab coupling assembly and a secondary coupling assembly. Each stab coupling assembly and each said secondary coupling assembly are coupled and are in electrical communication. Each stab coupling assembly is disposed in a conductor passage. When the interface assembly body is mounted in a panel board, each stab coupling assembly is coupled to, and in electric communication with a stab. Each secondary coupling assembly can be coupled to another panel board device.

A circuit breaker test system includes a circuit breaker under test having a deformable frame with an elongated slot, an elongated deformable portion adjacent the elongated slot and a movable portion adjacent the deformable portion, and a thermal trip assembly coupled to the movable portion. A calibration device includes a forked tool straddling the deformable portion. The trip assembly has a first thermal response. The calibration device rotates the tool in a first rotational direction and responsively deforms the deformable portion and moves the movable portion in a first direction, in order to calibrate the trip assembly for a second different thermal response. The calibration device rotates the tool in an opposite second rotational direction and responsively deforms the deformable portion and moves the movable portion in an opposite second direction, in order to re-calibrate the trip assembly for a third thermal response between the first and second thermal responses.

Method of bi-directional thermal calibration of a circuit interrupter frame and circuit interrupter test system including the same

A locking apparatus is for a circuit breaker including an enclosure having an opening with two sides and two ends, and two apertures on each of the sides proximate the ends. An operating mechanism includes a pivotal operating handle disposed through the opening. The operating handle includes a first position proximate one end of the opening and a second position proximate the other end of the opening. The locking apparatus is disposable proximate one of the ends of the opening. The locking apparatus includes a housing and a spring member interlocked with the housing. The spring member includes a first end and an opposite second end retained by the enclosure at the apertures at one of the ends when the operating handle is in the second position, or retained by the enclosure at the other apertures at the other of the ends when the handle is in the first position.

Operating handle locking apparatus and electrical switching apparatus including the same

A trip indicator is for a circuit breaker having a housing including first and second openings, separable contacts and an operating mechanism having an operating handle for opening and closing the separable contacts. The trip indicator includes a trip indicating member with a first end having a trip indicia and a second end with first and second projections. The first projection is engaged by a cradle of the operating mechanism when the separable contacts are not tripped, in order to prevent the trip indicia from being viewable at the second opening of housing. The first projection is disengaged and released when the separable contacts trip, causing the trip indicating member to move in order that the trip indicia is viewable at the second opening. A locking feature in which the second projection engages and locks operating handle, is also disclosed.

A removable universal terminal assembly has a molded housing that clips onto an electric power switch and two terminal members that can be alternatively installed in the molded housing to provide either a quick connect termination or a binding post termination.

Universal terminal assembly for electric power switch

A terminal assembly can be alternatively used to make either a pressure plate or screw type connection for connecting stranded wire or solid wire, respectively, to a power conductor of electric power apparatus such as a circuit breaker. An electrically insulative barrier has an elongated member with a lateral extension at one end having a recess that captures the head of the screw of a terminal collar for the pressure plate connection. As the screw is tightened, the collar is drawn toward the power conductor to clamp the stranded wire between the collar and one side of the power conductor. With the elongated member turned end for end, the screw is free to clamp the solid wire against the other side of the power conductor. Pairs of integral compliant latches on the elongated member accommodate quick conversion between the two types of connections.

Dual function terminal assembly and electric power apparatus incorporating the same

A trip spring electrical isolation device for a circuit breaker operating mechanism assembly, where the operating mechanism assembly has an operating arm and a cradle member with a trip spring disposed therebetween. The isolation device includes a non-conductive barrier structured to be coupled to either end of the trip spring.
