A flat flexible cable assembly includes a flat flexible cable having one or more substantially rectangular conductors encompassed within an insulating sheath. An overmold encapsulates and is secured to a portion of the flat flexible cable in an area in which the insulating sheath has been stripped. One or more sealing members are integrally-formed with the overmold and encapsulates and is secured to each stripped conductor to form a seal. The overmold and the sealing member(s) may be made of the same material by using a one-step process. Alternatively, the overmold and sealing member(s) may be made of different material by using a two-shot process. A method of manufacturing the flat flexible cable assembly is disclosed.

Flat flexible cable assembly with integrally-formed sealing members

An electrical wiring harness assembly including a flex cable comprising electrical conductors; and a plurality of insulation displacement connection (IDC) terminals connected to the conductors of the flex cable. The IDC terminals each include a base section, wire insulation displacement sections connected to the base section and having insulation displacement slots, and sets of teeth extending from the base section which extend through the conductors and are outwardly deformed on an opposite side of the flex cable from the base section. The IDC terminals are adapted to connect electrical wires directly to the conductors of the flex cable.

Flex cable and IDC electrical wiring harness assembly

An electrical connector housing including a main body having a receiving area which is sized and shaped to receive a flat conductor cable with contacts attached thereto into the receiving area; and a locking section connected to the main body by a living hinge. The locking section comprising a front end and a rear end. When the locking section is inserted into a receiving aperture of the main body, the front end is adapted to block withdrawal of at least one of the contacts located in the receiving area and, the rear end includes at least one strain relief projection which is sized and shaped to press the flat conductor cable against the main body to form a strain relief for the cable.

Flexible cable electrical connector

A lamp assembly for use with a vehicle's electrical system, the electrical system including a plurality of terminals each having a wire insulating portion and an end connector portion. A main elastomeric housing includes a socket for receiving a bulb. A front seal encircles an exterior surface of the socket and seals around a periphery of the socket. A first plurality of sealing ridges extend along an open facing side of the main housing, opposite the bulb socket, and within which are received the wire insulating portions of the terminals and the end connector portions of each terminal conmmunicating with the bulb socket upon the terminals being located within the main housing. A back cap matingly aligns over an open facing side of the main housing and includes an opposingly facing side with a second plurality of sealing ridges which align with the first plurality of sealing ridges and to sandwich therebetween the wire insulating portions of the terminals. An inlet seal is seatingly received between aligning recesses defined between the opposingly facing sides of the main housing and the back cap and is located proximate the first and second pluralities of sealing ridges. Wire receiving apertures extend through the seal and into which are inserted the wire insulating portions of the terminals. An ultrasonic welding operation secures the back cap to the main elastomeric housing in a seal-tight manner.
