The application is directed to an electronic that includes multiple motion sensors, such as passive infrared sensors, that the electronic device uses to detect characteristics of objects. For instance, the motion sensors may be substantially vertically aligned and/or substantially horizontally aligned with one another, where each motion sensor is positioned at a respective angle with respect to a ground plane. When the motion sensors detect an object, the electronic device can then determine a direction at which the object is moving and/or a speed at which the object is moving. In some instances, the direction may include towards the electronic device or away from the electronic device. Additionally, based on the characteristics of the object, the electronic device may perform an action, such as generating image data using a camera and/or sending a user alert.

Using motion sensors for direction detection

An audio/video (A/V) device may include or accommodate a viewer through a barrier. For example, an A/V device may include a first component for installation on an exterior surface of a door, a second component for installation on an interior surface of the door, a viewer that extends through an opening in the door, and a flexible connector that electrically couples the first component and the second component. The A/V device may enable use of an existing hole in the door as part of a door viewer, while also providing the functionality of an A/V device. For example, the A/V device may be configured to receive an input using a button on the first component, generate image data using a camera on the first component, and send the image data to a network device.

Configuring motion detection by a security device. The security device includes a camera configured to capture images of an environment in front of the security device and a motion sensor for detecting motion within the environment. The system also includes a server and a client device that are interconnected by a network. An AI learning module interacts with a user of the client device to capture an image of the user within the environment in front of the security device, and determines parameters for the motion sensor based upon analysis of the image to determine a location of an exempt area relative to the security device. The motion detector is configured based upon the determined parameters.

Tampering with an audio/video (A/V) recording and communication device is detected based on audio data captured by a microphone and/or video data captured by a camera of the A/V recording and communication device. The detection of the tampering may be based on, for example, processing of the audio and/or video data. Additional data may be collected and/or other actions taken in response to detection of the tampering.

A system and visitor recognition method receives a first image of a detected visitor at a first location, compares the image of the detected visitor to a prior visitor model including images of prior visitors to the first location or a second location. In some embodiments, when an image of the detected visitor matches the images of the prior visitor captured at a time differing from the capture time of the image of the detected visitor, the detected visitor is determined as unknown. In some embodiments, when the image of the detected visitor matches a group of images of a prior visitor at the second location, and the number of times the prior visitor was previously detected at the second location is above a second threshold, the detected visitor is determined as known, even if the detected visitor was not detected at the first location at least a threshold number of times.

System and method for visitor detection algorithm

Security video searching device, systems, and methods determine behavior associated with each of a plurality of video clips captured by security devices, find video clips that include behavior indicative of search characteristics, and send the found video clips to a user. A search engine analyzes each of the plurality of video clips to determine behavior associated with the video clip and finds ones of the plurality of video clips where the behavior matches the search characteristics defined by of the user. Previously determined behavioral patterns associated with motion signals generated by the security devices may also be used to determine behavior within the video clips.
