The invention relates to a blown film coextrusion process. The process involves extruding core contact layers through a die exit at a specified speed and cooling, orienting and crystallizing the multi-layer film formed at a specified deformation rate to form a the frost line is a specified distance from the die exit by withdrawing film at a take up speed. The core and core contact layers are of a film forming polymer composition comprising at least 90 wt % of ethylene based polymer. The ethylene based polymer of the core layer has an average density of ethylene based polymers equal to or higher than that of ethylene based polymer of the core contact layers. The invention specifically concerns the feature that the core layer composition contains a portion of and the composition of the core contact layers contains a portion of a linear polyethylene so as to make the core layer more resistant to deformation than the skin layers.

Coextrusion processes for making multilayer films and films made thereby

A multilayer blown film with improved strength or toughness comprising a layer comprising a metallocene polyethylene (mPE) having a high melt index ratio (MIR), a layer comprising an mPE having a low MIR, and a layer comprising a HDPE, and/or LDPE. Other embodiments have skin layers and a plurality of sublayers. At least one sublayer includes an mPE, and at least one additional sublayer includes HDPE and/or LDPE. The mPE has a density from about 0.910 to about 0.945 g/cm, MI from about 0.1 to about 15, and melt index ratio (MIR) from about 15 to 25 (low-MIR mPE) and/or from greater than 25 to about 80 (high-MIR mPE). A process is related to supplying respective melt streams for coextrusion at a multilayer die to form a blown film having the inner and outer skin layers and a plurality of sublayers, wherein the skin layers and at least one of the sublayers comprise mPE and at least one of the sublayers comprise HDPE, LDPE or both. Draw-down, blow-up ratios and freeze-line distance from the die are controlled to facilitate a high production rate.

Multilayer polyolefin blown film

A process to produce a laminate comprising coextruding a dynamically vulcanized alloy (DVA) film with an adhesive layer comprising a vulcanizable elastomeric composition through a die to produce the laminate. The process provides a residence time of the vulcanizable elastomeric composition in the melt to partially scorch the vulcanizable elastomeric composition. A melt of the DVA is in contact with the melt of the vulcanizable elastomeric composition in the die for at least 5 seconds, optionally also with a change in the area of the contact between the DVA film and the adhesive layer as it passes through the die, to increase the adhesion between the adhesive layer and the DVA layer relative to a shorter co-residence time. A laminate and a pneumatic tire comprising the laminate are also disclosed.

The invention relates to bags with a heat seal zone formed by a composition comprising an interpolymer of ethylene and an alpha-olefin having an MI of from 1.5 to 4.5 g/10 min, preferably from 1.7 to 3.5 g/10 min, and especially from 1.8 to 2.5 g/ 10 min, and a density of from 0.88 to 0.94 g/cm, preferably from 0.91 to 0.93 g/cmand especially from 0.912 to 0.922 g/cm,and a CDBI of at least 50%, preferably at least 55% and especially at least 60%, and less than 20 wt % of LDPL; and to uses of films for making such bags.
