A liquid heating vessel comprising heating means for heating liquid in the vessel, electronic control means, electromagnetic switching means for interrupting or reducing power to the heating means, and temperature sensing means for providing a signal dependent on the temperature of liquid in the vessel to the control means. The control means is arranged to operate the electromagnetic switching means to interrupt or reduce power to the heating means in response to the control means determining that a pre-determined temperature condition has been reached.

Liquid heating vessels

An underfloor heater for a liquid heating vessel comprises a base plate, a heat diffuser portion in good thermal contact with the base plate, a heating element in good thermal contact with the diffuser portion and a sensing region for receiving a thermal sensor. The sensing region is not directly connected to the diffuser portion and is at least partly surrounded by a wall. The sensing region may be provided with a second separate diffuser portion comprising a disc of aluminum brazed to the underside of the base plate.

Heaters for liquid heating vessels

An electric beverage maker includes a lower, water boiling vessel, a funnel extending into the lower vessel and having an upper compartment for receiving a beverage, and an upper vessel mounted over the funnel to receive water which has passed up the funnel through the compartment, and from which the beverage is dispensed. The lower vessel is formed with an opening in its lower region, which is closed by a thick film electric heater. The heater is controlled by a control which operates to disable the heater until such time as the control is reset manually by a user.

Electric beverage maker

A beverage makercomprises a first chamber, a second chamberarranged on top of said first chamber, with a tubeextending down from said second chamberinto said first chamberfor transferring liquid between the two chambers. The base of the first chamberhas a first regionat least a portion of which is arranged to boil dry and a second regionwhich is arranged to retain a quantity of liquid after the first regionboils dry. The first regionis separated from the second regionby a wall. The underside of the base of the first chamberis provided with one or more sheathed heating elementsarranged below the first regionof the base and also with a heat transfer memberwhich extends between the first and said second regions of the base. A thermal controlhas a sensor arranged to detect when the first region of the base boils dry so as to interrupt the power supply to or reduce the heating output of the heating apparatus.
