A system is provided that generates a capacity plan for a resource representing supply to meet demand based on minimizing a cost objective. The system generates demand scenarios by applying a stochastic process that factors in historical information, future goals, and uncertainty in demand. The system generates supply scenarios indicating supply over time for the resource by applying a stochastic process that factors in factors relating to quantity of supply units of the resource and uncertainty in supply. The system identifies a supply scenario that minimizes costs relating to delivery of supply at times other than the times at which supply is need to meet demand based on the demand scenarios. The supply scenario represents the capacity plan.

Resource capacity planning system

Systems, methods, and computer-readable media having computer-executable instructions embodied thereon that generate notifications that are delivered to translators who provide updates or translations that are included in localization resources for software applications are provided. Resources are stored on a computing device in a first database or a second database. The second database stores the content that is selected for modification or translation. The languages may be selected by one or more application developers or may be based on a geographic region associated with the content or the language currently associated with the content. One or more translators are identified based on matches to translator profiles included in the second database. The matching translators receive notifications, which inform the translator that updates or translations are requested. In turn, the translators may access the second database and provide the updates or translations.

Cloud-based localization platform

Systems, methods, and computer-readable media having computer-executable instructions embodied thereon that generate notifications that are delivered to translators who provide updates or translations that are included in localization resources for software applications are provided. Resources are stored on a computing device in a first database or a second database. The first database is configured to store software and has a first buffer that stores content selected for updating or translation and a second buffer for receiving updated content or translated content. The second database is configured to receive the content stored in the first buffer of the first database and to store profiles associated with translators. The second database provides a portal to authenticate the translator before allowing a translator to enter translations for the content stored in the second database. A notification component notifies translators of content that matches a language of the translators.

Resources are stored on a cloud device in a development file or a public database. The public database stores the content that is selected for modification or translation. The languages may be selected by one or more application developers or may be based on a geographic region associated with the content or the language currently associated with the content. One or more translators are identified based on matches to translator profiles included in the public database. The matching translators receive notifications, which inform the translator that updates or translations are requested. In turn, the translators may access the public database and provide the updates or translations.

Techniques and processes for subsidizing network access via content and advertising revenue are described. In one implementation, a user installs a context bar tool on the user's computing device. To access a network (e.g., a wireless network), the user activates the context bar tool and requests access to a network, such as the Internet. A network services provider detects the context bar tool and provides network access to the user. A content and ads service gathers content and advertising and populates a context bar graphic interface that is displayed on the user's device with the content and advertising. Providers of the content and advertising pay for this exposure and thus generate revenue that can be used to offset the cost of providing the network access and other network services.

Contextually aware client application

A determination of when to change a toolbar pane of a toolbar being displayed in a Web browser window is automatically made. A set of rules identifying which of multiple toolbar panes are to be displayed under different conditions is accessed, and one of the multiple toolbar panes is automatically determined based at least in part on the set of rules. This toolbar pane that was automatically determined is displayed in the toolbar of the web browser window.

Rule-based multi-pane toolbar display

A toolbar that persists in a browser window across multiple Web pages during a browsing session is displayed. This toolbar includes multiple toolbar buttons. An updated toolbar is automatically received from a remote toolbar source that is independent of the multiple Web pages, and this updated toolbar includes a change to the toolbar buttons. The toolbar in the browser is replaced, during the browsing session, with this updated toolbar. The toolbar can also include one or more buttons based at least in part on customization information regarding a user of the browser.
