A landing zone designator system includes two sets of antennas; the first set of antennas defines a first vertical lobe at a first known orientation to the landing pad and the second set of antennas defines a second vertical lobe at a second known orientation to the landing pad. A VTOL aircraft including two antennas tracks the vertical lobes to align the aircraft to the center of the landing pad. The aircraft antennas can be rotated or repositioned dynamically to accommodate the orientation of the aircraft.

Landing zone designators

Whenever an avionics computer system receives a flight plan, the avionics computer system performs rules-based conformity checks with respect to a predefine set of rules/thresholds. The rules may be general aviation best practices (no rate of elevation change beyond some threshold, no single change in direction beyond some threshold, etc.) or specific to the aircraft (no violation of an operational ceiling, no violation of some defined fuel reserve, etc.). Violations of the rules and criteria are communicated to crew members via visual indicia of such violations, including the relative severity.

Flight plan rules based conformity check

A system and method are provided for selecting features from a digital chart, and entering corresponding flight plan amendments into a flight plan by direct transfer to an FMS. Based on the selection, the system may prompt the user for subsequent selections. Digital charts are generated in dynamically or in real-time according to a set of databases, including the databased used by the FMS. Elements within the databases are characterized so that the flight crew can select which elements are displayed. Features in the digital chart may be made selectable or unselectable based on a filtering process. The filtering process may be based on environmental variables, aircraft capabilities, safety tolerances, etc.

Flight planning through data driven charting

A system comprises an environmental control system (ECS) having a plurality of ducts configured to convey a flow of air into an interior space through the plurality of ducts. A plurality of valves are disposed in the plurality of ducts to control the flow of air through a respective duct into the interior space. A plurality of sensors are disposed in the interior space configured to sense a passenger condition.

In accordance with at least one aspect of this disclosure, a method for power distribution and load management in an aircraft can include budgeting a designated current for one or more loads in one or more respective power districts in a power distribution system based on a nominal load draw for each of the one or more loads, determining a system condition of the power distribution system, prioritizing each of the one or more loads based on the system condition, and distributing power from each of the one or more power districts to the respective one or more loads in order of priority until a total budgeted designated current for the respective power district has been exhausted, and leaving any remaining loads in the one or more power districts unpowered.

Systems and methods for power transfer and load management

A system may include an aircraft including a processor. The processor may be configured to: receive a lead aircraft assignment instruction, the lead aircraft assignment instruction instructing the aircraft to follow a lead aircraft; determine whether the aircraft is receiving sufficient lead aircraft traffic data from the lead aircraft to record a four-dimensional (4D) track of the lead aircraft; upon a determination that the aircraft is receiving the sufficient lead aircraft traffic data, output an acceptance of the lead aircraft assignment instruction; receive the lead aircraft traffic data from the lead aircraft, the lead aircraft traffic data including information at least one of associated with or of the track of the lead aircraft; record the track of the lead aircraft; and output commands configured to cause (a) the aircraft to follow the recorded track, or (b) guidance content for following the recorded track of the lead aircraft to be presented.

System and method for flying aircraft relative to lead aircraft

The processor may be configured to (a) pre-arm multiple actions according to a conditional timeline and any associated trigger events, and (b) output commands to cause the multiple actions to be completed at times consistent with the conditional timeline and any associated trigger events.

An aircraft cabin partition system may include at least a first partition with a partition cut-out and a first flange with a first flange cut-out. The aircraft cabin partition system may include a first coupling assembly configured to be inserted within the first flange cut-out, configured to be inserted within an opening of a seat rail within a floor of an aircraft cabin, and configured to couple the at least the first partition to the seat rail when engaged. The aircraft cabin partition system may include at least a second partition with a second flange with a second flange cut-out. The aircraft cabin partition system may include a second coupling assembly configured to be inserted within the partition cut-out, configured to be inserted within the second flange cut-out, and configured to couple the at least the second partition to the at least the first partition when engaged.

A system and method for displaying dynamic time-based ranging over a moving map determines position, heading, and airspeed information of an ownship. Based on the positioning information of the ownship, the moving map projects the ownship forward in time and superimposes on the moving map (which may already include distance-based ranging information) time-based ranging information indicating a projected range of positions of the ownship at future or subsequent times relative to the current time. The displayed time-based ranging indicators may be arcuate in shape but adjusted to account for dynamic factors such as headwinds or tailwinds that may affect the time required for the ownship to reach a target at a given distance.

An indicator for a hybrid electric powerplant for an aircraft can be configured to indicate at least an amount or percentage of a total power and/or total torque, and an amount or percentage of an electric motor power and/or electric motor torque. For example, the indicator can be a graphical user interface (GUI) of an aircraft cockpit display.

A wireless power delivery system for aircraft seats includes an NFC power receiving device disposed at a known location proximal to floor rail bracket engaging portion of the seat, and an NFC power delivery device engages a corresponding bracket disposed underneath the aircraft floor. The brackets are aligned to each other to ensure the disposition of the NFC power delivery device is sufficiently close to the NFC power receiving device to effectively transfer power. The NFC power delivery device is disposed in a cargo container. Bracket engaging elements in the seat rows include features that indicate a location on a lower bracket to align the NFC power receiving device to the NFC power delivery device.

Systems and methods for dual voltage power generation are provided. Aspects include a generator having an input connected to an engine to receive rotational energy proportional to a rotation speed of a fan and having an output through which electrical energy is output, a rectifier circuit having an input coupled to the output of the generator and a rectifier output that outputs rectified power, a bypass switch connected to the output of rectifier and operates in a plurality of states including a normal operation state where the rectified power is provided a power converter and a bypass state where the rectified power is provided directly to a load, and a controller configured to determine an occurrence of an event associated with the engine, and operate the bypass switch in the bypass state based on the occurrence of the event associated with the engine.

Dual voltage low spool generator

A method of preserving power quality on a power grid is provided. The method is implemented by a voltage overflow device that is electrically coupled to the power grid through electrical contacts. A voltage monitoring circuit of the voltage overflow device monitors a voltage via the electrical contacts on the power grid with respect to a predetermined voltage. The voltage monitoring circuit determines whether the voltage exceeds the predetermined voltage. A switch of the voltage overflow device shunt an excess voltage over the predetermined voltage to a resistive load when the voltage exceeds the predetermined voltage to preserve the power quality on the power grid.

An electrical power distribution system for a mobile platform, and a method for making such, includes a forming a substrate having a first panel connected to a second panel. The first panel resides in a first plane that differs from a second plan in which the second panel resides. One or more bus bars are arranged on the first panel, with one or more power electronic devices arranged on the first panel and connected to the one or more bus bars. One or more connectors are arranged on the second panel and electrically connected to the one or more bus bars. Finally, one or more thermal relief devices are arranged in contact with the substrate.

Three-dimensional power distribution interconnect structure

A computer implemented method for managing data of a remote system includes receiving, at a processor on the remote system, fundamental data from a monitored subsystem of the remote system and/or at least one associated subsystem of the remote system as specified by a diagnostic protocol for the monitored subsystem and wirelessly transmitting the fundamental data to a remote support center that is separate from the remote system. The remote system applies additional, non-certified, logic to determine if augmented diagnostic data is desired. The method also includes wirelessly receiving a signal from the remote support center including at least one of a request for augmented data or a diagnostic protocol change command. The method also includes receiving the augmented data from the monitored subsystem and/or the at least one associated subsystem and/or at least one other subsystem of the remote system, and transmitting the augmented data to the remote support center.
