Apparatus and methods related to on-boarding software applications on a platform used in a content delivery and/or service provider network. In one embodiment, a centralized platform such as a premises gateway is provided to act as an application portal or store for all consumer devices that connects to a service provider network. In one variant, a software architecture is provided for the gateway which includes at least one of an open-sourced OS (e.g., OpenWrt) and containerization engine (e.g., Docker) which enables a broader range of application compatibility with the gateway itself and end user devices within the premises by abstracting the services and functions above the specific hardware/firmware configurations of each of the end user devices.

Methods and apparatus for supporting platform and application development and operation

Systems and methods for operating a customer premise equipment (CPE) device with agile software stack integrated with OpenSync&#x2122; layer for command, control, and telemetry via the operator's cloud network. It includes the configuration of the CPE device to receive traffic from an access network in a first system on chip (SoC) of the CPE device, and to provide 5G edge computing services to a 5G NR user equipment (UE) device via a second SoC of the CPE device. The CPE device may also be configured to receive 5G New Radio (NR) mobile traffic, receive in-home Wi-Fi traffic, and use at least one service flow (or only one service flow) to support both the 5G NR mobile traffic and the in-home Wi-Fi traffic.

System and method for leveraging access customer premise equipment (CPE) gateway resources to provide 5G edge computing services

This disclosure introduces a novel device-initiated power saving scheme that enables the device (such as a ONU or other suitable entity) to achieve efficiencies during power emergencies and enables new communication features with a communication management resource (such as an OLT or other suitable entity) and the monitoring of systems deep in a service provider's network. Additionally, the new power saving techniques as described herein are fully compatible with existing operational power saving methods. Further, new messages supporting telemetry data can be used to plan back office support expansion needs, identify subscribers that are eligible for enhanced service offers and other uses. Finally, this disclosure includes new telemetry messaging techniques to provide novel notification of a system status.

Device power savings and extended telemtry messaging

Apparatus and methods related to software architectures in a multiprocessor-based access device used in a content delivery and/or service provider network. In one embodiment, a software architecture is provided for a cable modem using a first type of digital processor (e.g., RISC core or similar), and a second type of digital processor (e.g., multi-core CPU). In one variant, the RISC processor is used as a cable modem stack processor, and the CPU processor is used as an application processor. A Linux (e.g., OpenWrt)-based software architecture is used wherein software components placed on both processors can communicate to effectuate, e.g., configuration changes to the device (including the cable modem stack). A mechanism to establish communications between the two different processor domains and retrieve the requested information based on existing (e.g., RPC) protocols is also disclosed.

Methods and apparatus for multi-processor device software development and operation

Obtain, from a subscriber premises gateway, a data packet having a header field including a unique identifier for a combination of the gateway and a connected subscriber IP device. Transport the data packet through an internal network of a broadband service provider. Remove the header field after the transporting and prior to the data packet exiting the internal network of the broadband service provider to an external network. Store, in a subscriber internet protocol device data repository of the broadband service provider, data, including the header field, representing transport of the data packet through the internal network of the broadband service provider to the external network. Detect, based on the data repository, at least one of an internal and an external anomaly associated with the data packet. Initiate at least one mitigation action in response to the detecting of the at least one of an internal and an external anomaly.

Assuring data delivery from internet of things (IoT) devices

Methods and devices are disclosed for controlling and managing a home network, and expediting service delivery on a communications service provider. The communications service provider may receive information identifying one or more service group selected by a subscriber of the communications service provider. The communications service provider may also identify pre-set configurations associated with each of the one or more selected service group, generate configuration instructions for a micro-domain corresponding to each of the one or more selected service group, and create the micro-domain in the home network for each of the one or more selected service group by applying the generated configuration instructions to network services of the communications service provider.

System architecture and methods for controlling and managing networking devices and expediting new service delivery in a subscriber's home network using micro-domains

Facilitating service discovery and other operations across multiple local links is contemplated. The service discovery may be beneficial for use within local area networks (LANs) or other suitable multi-link or multi-segment networks where one or more of the links operates service discovery according to link-local messaging/addressing constraints.

Configuration of tunnel, firewall and/or other positional based functionality for routers operating within a multi-router network is contemplated. The functionality configured for one or more of the routers may be implemented automatically without manual input or identification, such as to facilitate an off-the-shelf implementation process where positioning and attendant functionality is routinely implemented according to a predefined set of roles.

Real-time intelligent mute interactive features

A system and method are provided for detecting extension attacks made to a communication enterprise, and taking appropriate remedial action to prevent ongoing attacks and future attacks. One or more attributes of a suspect call are analyzed, and a risk is associated with each analyzed attribute. An overall risk or assessment is then made of the analyzed attributes, attack attributes are logged, and one or more remedial actions may be triggered as a result of the analyzed call attributes. The remedial actions may include recording the call, notifying an administrator of a suspect call, or isolating the communication enterprise from the attack by terminating the call or shutting down selected communication endpoints to prevent calls being made to those extensions. Rules may be applied to the analyzed attributes in order to trigger the appropriate remedial action. The call attributes analyzed may include call destination, call direction, call type, time of day of the call, call duration, whether a call source is spoofed, call volume from a particular call source, and hash values created for a suspect media stream.
