A winder for winding continuous webs or interleaved web segments having a machine direction and a cross-machine direction coplanar and orthogonal thereto into rolls is disclosed. The winder provides a plurality of winding spindles orbiting about a winding turret axis and a plurality of surface contact rolls cooperatively associated with a respective winding spindle. Each surface contact roll is capable of cooperative engagement with the respective winding spindle when the web material is disposed therebetween. The longitudinal axis of each surface contact roll is adjustable relative to the axis generally parallel to the winding turret axis when the web material is received by the winding spindle cooperatively associated thereto.

Rewind system

A winder for winding continuous webs or interleaved web segments having a machine direction and a cross-machine direction coplanar and orthogonal thereto into rolls is disclosed. The winder comprises a first surface contact roll having a longitudinal axis parallel to the cross-machine direction associated thereto. The web material contacts at least a portion of the first surface contact roll. The winder also has a winding spindle arranged to be rotatably driven about an axis generally parallel to the longitudinal axis of the first surface contact roll. The winding spindle is capable of receiving the web material when the winding spindle is proximate the web material contacting the first surface contact roll. Each of the winding spindle and first surface contact roll is capable of cooperative engagement when the web material is disposed therebetween. Further, the longitudinal axis of the first surface contact roll is adjustable relative to the winding axis of the winding spindle when the web material is received by the winding spindle.

The present invention provides for a method for rewinding a web material. The method comprises the steps of: (1) Disposing the web material on a winding spindle, the winding spindle being operatively associated with a winding turret; (2) Cooperatively engaging a contact roll with the winding spindle when the web material is disposed therebetween, the contact roll being operatively associated with the winding turret; and, (3) Adjusting the position of the contact roll upon said winding turret relative to the winding spindle as the web material is being disposed upon the winding spindle.

A winder for winding a web material into rolls is disclosed and claimed. The winder is provided with a winding spindle that is rotatably driven about an axis generally parallel to the cross-machine direction of the web material. The web material is disposed about the winding spindle when the web material is proximate thereto. The winder is also provided with a contact roll disposed adjacent, and contacting a portion of the web material being disposed about, the winding spindle. Each of the winding spindle and the contact roll are capable of cooperative engagement when the web material is disposed therebetween. Both the winding spindle and the contact roll are operatively disposed upon a winding turret. The contact roll is adjustable relative to the winding spindle when the web material is disposed upon the winding spindle.

Apparatus for rewinding web materials

A method for rewinding a web material is disclosed. The method provides for the steps of (1) Disposing the web material on a first surface contact roll, (2) Providing at least one winding spindle proximate the material disposed upon the first surface contact roll, (3) Adjusting the first surface contact roll relative to the at least one winding spindle, and, (4) Transferring the web material to the at least one winding spindle from the first surface contact roll.

Process for winding a web material

A process for winding a web material such as continuous webs or interleaved web segments into rolls is disclosed. The process disposes a web material on a conveyor belt. At least one winding spindle is disposed proximate the web material disposed upon the conveyor belt. The conveyor belt is adjusted relative to the at least one winding spindle. The web material is then transferred to the at least one winding spindle from the conveyor belt.

A winder for winding continuous webs or interleaved web segments into rolls is disclosed. The winder comprises first and second rollers, each having a generally mutually parallel longitudinal axis. The winder also has a continuous belt. The continuous web is disposed upon at least a portion of the continuous belt. A rotatably driven winding spindle is adapted to receive the continuous web or interleaved web segments when the spindle is proximate to the continuous web or interleaved web segments disposed upon the continuous belt.
