The present application is directed to a method and system for restraining a patient before, during, or after surgery that increases efficiency of the surgical setup process and minimizes risk of musculoskeletal damage to the patient, particularly in surgeries requiring a patient to be in a Trendelenburg position (e.g., robotic or laparoscopic surgeries). One or more restraints can be worn by a patient prior to surgery', and may function to redistribute the patient's weight across the patient's torso to reduce strain on the patient's shoulders and back. The restraint(s) can be attached to a surgical table by way of an attachment mechanism coupled to the restraint(s) and the table. The attachment mechanism can secure the patient to the table by way of one or more straps, clips, and/or other intermediates. Optionally, the restraint(s) can fulfill other surgical needs, such as heat regulation and vascular compression.

A urine collection device for women has a bowl with sides that bow inwardly to provide a comfortable fit while minimizing spillage. The bowl has an aperture through which urine can pass to a removable specimen jar. An elongated handle extends from the front of the bowl, and is provided with fingergrips on its bottom edge. The device can be molded from plastic, permitting it to be sanitized and reused.

A urinal for men who cannot use a toilet or are otherwise incapacitated has a canister with a removable spout. A manual seal in the spout can be manipulated between open and closed positions by a trigger on the exterior of the spout, and locked into the open position by a releasable locking arm. A vertically-arranged opening in a dome seal attached to the spout helps prevent spillage in the event the urinal is knocked onto its side when the manual seal is locked open. The spout is attached to the canister by a releasable collar, and thus can be easily separated for cleaning.
