An method for sample preparation using solid phase extraction. Using an apparatus comprising a SPE cartridge and a sorbent-containing gas filter which contains a sorbent and is detachably connected to the SPE cartridge the gas used to dry the SPE cartridge is purified by passage through the gas filter, thereby preventing contamination of the SPE sorbent by airborne contaminants.

Method for sample preparation by solid phase extraction

An apparatus is provided for simultaneous processing of multiple fluid samples. The apparatus comprises a multiple well plate for holding a plurality of sample reservoirs for simultaneous processing of multiple samples. The wells are configured in the plate in staggered rows. The well plate is dimensioned to be compatible with a vacuum manifold or positive pressure system either as a stand-alone unit or in conjunction with a separate fluid handling system. The apparatus may further comprise a sample collection plate having the same number of wells as the multiple well plate. The wells in the samples collection plate are arranged in the same staggered configuration as the wells in the well plate and are sized for holding sample collection vials. When the well plate and sample collection plate are assembled in a manifold, the vials in the sample collection plated are aligned directly beneath the sample exits of corresponding sample reservoirs in the well plate.

Apparatus for simultaneous processing of multiple samples

A method for producing a derivatized aldehydic support matrix material includes activating surface hydroxyl groups on the support matrix material and reacting the activated hydroxyl groups with an aldehydic alkoxy silane. The derivatized aldehydic support matrix material produced is useful for immobilizing bio-molecules in biological applications.

A housing is described for use in preparing a sample for chemical analysis, the housing having a sample entrance, a sample exit, and a passageway therebetween; the housing further comprising at least three ridges, the ridges integral with the housing, depending into the passageway, and defining a supporting profile for holding a sorbent retaining member.

Microcolumn for use in sample extraction

Novel compounds comprising siloxane modified carboxylic acid substituted amines and salts thereof are provided. The compounds according to the invention provide many of the desirable properties of ethylenediamine tetraacetic acid and its salts in a stationary phase. A process for synthesis of the compounds according to the invention are also provided.

Siloxane modified carboxylic acid substituted amines and salts thereof

A new method for the preparation of aminopropyl terminated or internal functionalized polyalkyl or aryl siloxanes is described. The method involves readily available commercial starting materials and proceeds under mild conditions in high yield. Purification is facilitated over present commercial procedures and a wider variety of internal functionalized siloxanes may be prepared. The method involves hydrosilation of commercially availably alkyl or aryl functional hydrosilicones with allyl amine or other alkenyl or arenyl amine in the presence of platinum (0) divinyltetramethylsiloxane or platinum (0) cyclovinyl complexes.

Method for the preparation of aminopropyl or aminoalkyl functional polyalkyl or aryl siloxanes

A treated silica composition particularly useful for solid phase extraction in chemical analysis, the silica having both phenyl and propylsulfonic acid functional groups; a cartridge for extraction which comprises the treated silica; a column for extraction which comprises the treated silica; and a method for solid phase extraction which uses the silica composition. A method for analysis of gamma hydroxybutyric acid is also disclosed which uses the treated silica.
