A connector includes terminals with contacts. In an embodiment the contacts are positioned in a vertical connector similar to an edge card connector but with a differential pair aligned in a vertical direction. Thus the connector can provide edge-coupled differential pair in a high-density configuration.

Connector for mounting on a circuit board

A connector is provided with a housing that includes a front face and a rear face, each face having a card slot. A row of terminals is provided and some of the terminals in the row have first contacts positioned in a card slot in the front face and second contacts positioned in a card slot in the second face. Other terminals in the row of terminals have contacts in the card slot in the front face and have tails configured to be mounted to a circuit board.

Connector with dual card slots

A connector includes a housing with a plurality of electrically conductive terminals therein. Some terminals may include a terminal support projection that engages the housing to maintain the position of a contact section of the terminals relative to the housing. Others terminals may have a tool engaging shoulder configured to be engaged by a tool to force press-fit tails of all of the terminals into a circuit member. The housing may include a locking structure for certain the terminals that permits the terminals to be inserted into the housing with little or no force and then securely lock the terminals in the housing. One or more ground plates may be included for electrically connecting a plurality of the terminals. The ground plates may have resilient tabs that contact at least some of the terminals and the tabs may be thinner than a body portion of the ground plate.

Electrical connector

A connector includes a housing with a plurality of electrically conductive terminals therein. A connector includes terminals. The terminals can have a contact that has a loop configuration. In an embodiment the contacts are positioned in a vertical connector similar to an edge card connector but with a differential pair aligned in a vertical direction. Thus the connector can provide edge-coupled differential pair in a high density configuration.

Connector having a housing with closed loop terminals

A connector is provided with a pair of terminals configured to provide a differential signal pair. A ground terminal is positioned on opposing sides of the differential pair. The body of the differential pair is configured so as to bring the differential pair closer together. In an embodiment, the % coupling on the differential pair is increase at least 5% more than a design where the four terminals are positioned at a constant pitch between the tail and the contact.

Differentially coupled connector

A connector assembly includes a housing with a card slot and includes terminals positioned in the card slot where the terminals are tuned to improve performance. The terminals include a contact, a tail and a body extending therebetween. The contacts can include a deflecting portion and a pad interface portion. The deflecting portion includes a dual beam portion and a single beam portion. The connector can be configured to provide a row of contacts positioned on both sides of a card slot.

A connector can be provided that allows for improved route-out including straight-back routing. Signal and ground terminal tails can be arranged in a single row to help facilitate such functionality. A conductive member can connect ground tails to ground terminals. Consequentially, a connector with two vertically stacked card slots can be provided that allows for straight back routing of the signal traces in four layers while still providing a compact connector design.

High density connector

A connector is provided with a pair of terminals configured to provide a differential signal pair. A ground terminal is positioned on opposing sides of the differential pair. The body of the differential pair is configured so as to bring the differential pair closer together. In an embodiment, the % coupling on the differential pair is increase at least 10% more than a design where the four terminals are positioned at a constant pitch between the tail and the contact.

A circuitized substrate which utilizes at least one internal (embedded) resistor as part thereof, the resistor comprised of a material including resin and a quantity of powders of nano-particle and/or micro-particle sizes. The resistor serves to decrease the capacitance in the formed circuit while only slightly increasing the high frequency resistance, thereby improving circuit performance through the substantial elimination of some discontinuities known to exist in structures like these. An electrical assembly (substrate and at least one electrical component) is also provided.

Method of making a circuitized substrate

A substrate and method for making same for use in electronic packages having a core layer of copper-invar-copper (CIC) with a layer of polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) placed upon both sides of the CIC. A layer of etched copper foil is placed on the outer surface of each PTFE layer. A layer of liquid crystal polymer (LCP) is placed on both layers of etched copper foil. An external layer of etched copper foil is placed on the external surface of the LCP layers.
