A moisture-curable polyurethane formulation is provided capable of curing to form a reaction product, having high green strength and being dispensable from a caulking gun. The polyurethane formulation comprises at least one isocyanate-terminated prepolymer, at least one rheology modifier or filler, optionally monomeric/polymeric isocyanate, and at least one urea-based thixotropic additive added to the formulation or formed in situ, to provide greater than 1% of urea groups in the reaction product. A method for making a moisture-curable polyurethane formulation capable of curing to form a reaction product and methods of bonding materials together using the formulation are also provided.

Polyurethane formulation with high green strength and gunnability

A silane-terminated polyurethane composition is the reaction product of a silane-terminated polyurethane prepolymer component, a silane-terminated monomeric diisocyanate, and optionally at least one multifunctional trisilane or tetrasilane component. A method for making a composition includes (a) providing a silane-terminated polyurethane prepolymer component, a silane-terminated monomeric diisocyanate component, and optionally at least one multifunctional trisilane or tetrasilane component, and (b) combining the prepolymer component, monomeric component, and optional multifunctional silane component to form a silane-terminated polyurethane reaction product with a tensile strength of about 4 MPa or greater and an elongation of about 200% or greater.

Silane-terminated polyurethanes with high strength and high elongation

Disclosed are silane-modified urea derivatives which can be produced by reacting diisocyanates with aminosilanes, hydroxysilanes, or mercaptosilanes. The inventive silane-modified urea derivatives are suitable especially for use as auxiliary rheological agents, preferably as thixotropic agents for silane-crosslinking systems, particularly for single-component and two-component adhesives and sealants, paint, lacquers, and coating while causing substantially no increase in viscosity, not being subject to discoloring, being reactive, and positively influencing mechanics.

Silane-modified urea derivatives, method for the production thereof, and use thereof as auxiliary rheological agents

A composition that is a reaction product of two or three moieties. The first moiety (A) is a nonpolymeric, multi-functional moiety or combination of mono- or multifunctional moieties that adsorbs onto a cementitious particle. The second required moiety (C) is a linear or branched water soluble, nonionic polymer that is capable of providing dispersing capability. A third moiety (B), if present, is a nonpolymeric moiety disposed between the first and second moiety, to connect the first and second moieties.

Oligomeric dispersant

A dry cast article and method for making the same, wherein the dry cast article includes an oligomeric dispersant that is a reaction product of two or three moieties is provided. To make a dry cast article, hydraulic cement, water, coarse aggregate, fine aggregate, optionally a surface active agent/air entraining agent, and an oligomeric dispersant are mixed and used to form a dry cast article from the mixture.

The first moiety (A) is a nonpolymeric, functional moiety that adsorbs onto a particle, and wherein one or more A moieties together contain at least two residues to provide attachment of the dispersant onto a particle to be dispersed. The second required moiety (C) is a linear or branched water soluble, nonionic polymer that provides the dispersing capability. A third moiety (B), if present, is a nonpolymeric moiety disposed between the first and second moiety, to connect the first and second moieties. A method is provided for dispersing a cementitious formulation comprising a cement in water, including providing in said cementitious formulation the above oligomeric dispersant. A combination of any cement dispersant with an oligomeric dispersant wherein at least one A moiety is blocked is also provided in a cementitious formulation and in a method of making such cementitious formulation.
