An engine diagnostic tool includes a diagnostic engine calibration module structured to include a plurality of diagnostic processes for operating an internal combustion engine system of an immobilized vehicle. One or more of the plurality of diagnostic processes are structured to be an intrusive diagnostic process for the internal combustion engine system, wherein the intrusive diagnostic process causes the internal combustion engine system to operate outside of one or more calibration parameters. The diagnostic engine module is further structured to control the order and timing of each diagnostic process in the plurality of diagnostic processes.

Exhaust aftertreatment system diagnostic and conditioning

An apparatus includes a stationary conditions circuit structured to received information indicative of a stationary condition of a vehicle having an exhaust aftertreatment system; an engine circuit structured to cause an elevated operating mode in response to the detection of the stationary condition; and a nitrous oxide (NOx) monitor reset circuit. The NOx monitor reset circuit may be structured to: receive vehicle operation data indicative of an enable condition for a NOx monitor reset process; in response to the enable condition, receive NOx data indicative of a NOx amount exiting the exhaust aftertreatment system as part of the NOx monitor reset process; compare the NOx data to an estimated NOx amount; and in response to the comparison, selectively diagnose the exhaust aftertreatment system as one of a healthy and a degraded exhaust aftertreatment system.

Systems and methods of an on-board NOx monitor reset test

The present invention relates to a system for controlling loading of an internal combustion engine based on a an adjusted load bias signal produced by an engine control computer. The engine control computer is responsive to engine speed and commanded fueling to produce a load bias signal, is responsive to engine speed, engine intake air pressure and the load bias signal to produce an acceleration-adjusted load bias value, and is responsive to engine speed, a reference engine speed and the load 10 bias signal to produce a deceleration-adjusted load bias value. The engine control computer is thereafter operable to compare the load bias value, the acceleration-adjusted load bias value and the deceleration-adjusted load bias value and produce the adjusted load bias signal as one of these three signals based on a comparison therebetween. The adjusted load bias signal is provided to an external load generator operable to control loading of the engine based thereon. Improper loading of the engine is avoided with the present invention by accounting for transient engine operation involving engine acceleration and deceleration conditions.
