A nozzle for introducing pressurized fluids into an industrial vessel is releasably attachable to and detachable from a mounting member securedly attached to an exterior surface of the vessel. The mounting member is attached, via extension piping, to a source of pressurized gas, such as the exhaust valve of an air cannon. Both the nozzle and the mounting member include respective mating collars which engage each other in a twist lock manner. Additional securing members are provided to securely retain the nozzle and mounting member in twist lock engagement. Removal of the nozzle is performed by releasing the securing members, twisting the nozzle from inside of the vessel to unlock it from the mounting member, and uncoupling the nozzle from the mounting member. Installation of a replacement nozzle is performed by performing the foregoing steps in the reverse order. For high temperature applications, the removal of existing refractory material may be necessary prior to removal of a worn nozzle, and new refractory material may be applied to the interior surface of the vessel following attachment of the replacement nozzle.

Removable nozzle for use with air cannons and aerators and method for replacing same

An air cannon or aerator has a first source of a pressurized gas, such as a tank, a discharge tube assembly, a valve assembly configured to regulate the flow of pressurized gas from the tank to the discharge tube assembly, and a receiving member or basket having a first end configured to receive and seat the valve assembly and a second end configured to releasably and securely mate with the discharge tube assembly. The discharge tube assembly, valve assembly, and basket are all concentrically aligned along a central, longitudinal axis extending substantially coaxial with the longitudinal center line of the tank. The positioning of the discharge tube assembly and valve assembly close to a longitudinal center line of the tank, thereby providing for a central location for the energy discharge, and the provision of large ports in the basket facilitating substantially unobstructed fluid communication between the tank and discharge tube assembly, together facilitate smooth discharge of the pressurized gas as well as increased efficiency and force output of the air cannon.

Air cannon for removal of flowable material from a material handling system

Apparatus, for detecting the presence and eating activity of organisms such as termites that damage structures, includes a body; a wooden bait element controllably exposed to the organisms within a cavity of the body, and having an applied bait substance; a side wall of the body having a vertically spaced plurality of smoothly converging entrance passages for admitting the organisms, a consumable porous barrier covering each of the entrance passages. Spring tension is applied to an upper end of the bait element, an opposite end being anchored to the body. A flag member that is connected to the upper end of the bait element projects from the body when the bait element is weakened to the predetermined amount by the organisms.

Apparatus and method for monitoring termite activity

A positive pressure actuated aerator valve assembly adapted to discharge compressed gas into the chamber of a bulk material handling structure. The aerator valve assembly includes a housing and positive pressure actuated valve. The housing includes a chamber adapted to receive compressed gas and a discharge piston slideable between an extended position and a retracted position. The valve includes a valve body having an actuator piston seat and a fluid vent passageway in fluid communication with the actuator piston seat. An actuator piston is slideable with respect to the valve body between a retracted position and an extended position. A positive displacement force is applied to the actuator piston, such as by the supply of pressurized gas to the valve, to slide the actuator piston from the retracted position toward the extended position whereupon gas within the chamber of the housing flows through the fluid vent passageway and the discharge piston is moved from the extended position to the retracted position by gas within the chamber to thereby place the chamber of the housing in fluid communication with the fluid passageway of the piston seat.

Positive pressure actuated aerator valve assembly

A turbine vibrator including a housing having a first end and a second end and a generally cylindrical internal surface forming a cylindrical central chamber. An end cap is attached to each end of the housing including one or more outlet ports in fluid communication with the central chamber. A turbine wheel is located within the central chamber of the housing and is rotatably supported by the end caps. The turbine wheel includes a central shaft, a cylindrical wall extending concentrically about the central shaft, and an eccentric weight extending between the shaft and the cylindrical wall. A rotor including a plurality of teeth formed from an elastomeric material extends around the cylindrical wall. A cap cover including one or more outlet ports is attached to each end cap with a muffler member disposed between the outlet ports in the end cap and the outlet ports in the cap cover.
