Injector systems which include a syringe and a powered injector to inject a fluid into a patient are described. The powered injector includes a drive member, an energy source, at least one sensor for detecting energy from the energy source, and at least one contact member axially movable in the injector and in communication with the sensor. The syringe includes at least one indicator positioned at a predetermined position, such as on a rear surface of an attachment flange, which may transmit or reflect energy from the energy source to the sensor. The contact member may contact and be moved by the indicator when the syringe is attached to the powered injector, so that the energy detected by the sensor may be determined by the position of the indicator. The position of the indicator thereby provides information about the syringe configuration.

Injector system for encoding and sensing of syringe information

Injector systems including a syringe for use with a powered injector having a drive membre to inject a fluid into a patient having a first indicator positioned on the syringe at a predetermined position are described. The position of the first indicator may be associated with information about the syringe configuration. The first indicator can, for example, be positioned on a rear surface of an attachment flange of the syringe. The injector system includes sensors each having on and off states, and a shutter mechanism configured to place sensors in the on or off states. The state of each of the sensors provides a digital code corresponding to information on the syringe configuration.

A mounting member for attaching a front-loading syringe to a powered injector is disclosed. The present invention may also include a plunger that has a two-piece molded core portion that is readily attachable to a plunger drive member of a powered injector. The plunger core may also be equipped with an anti-cocking flange to prevent the plunger from being axially misaligned within the syringe body which could result in fluid leakage between the plunger and the syringe body. An alignment flange may also be provided on the plunger to assist with the proper insertion of the plunger into the syringe during the assembly process. A method of manufacturing a syringe plunger is also disclosed. The present invention further includes a sleeve for clampingly engaging a heating blanket to the outer surface of a syringe.
