An oscilloscope probe includes a tip network, a low-loss signal cable, and a terminating assembly. The tip network is connected to the signal cable and is configured to electrically connect to a device under test via a tip network node. The terminating assembly includes an amplifier, a feedback network and a terminating attenuator. The amplifier has an inverting input, a non-inverting input connected to ground, and an amplifier output configured to connect to an oscilloscope input. The feedback network is connected between the inverting input and the amplifier output. The terminating attenuator includes a first loop circuit and a second loop circuit. The first loop circuit is provided between the signal cable and the inverting input of the amplifier. The second loop circuit is provided between the signal cable, and ground. Resistance of terminating resistors in the loop circuits are selected to match characteristic impedance of the signal cable.

High dynamic range probe using pole-zero cancellation

A device compensates for distortions of a serial data signal introduced by a communication channel in a serial communication system. The device includes main path, first and second delay paths, first and second pulse generators, and combiner. The first and second delay paths delay a tapped-off portion of the serial data signal by first and second delay amounts, respectively, where the first delay amount is less than a main path delay amount and the second delay amount greater the main path delay amount. The first and second pulse generators generate first and second compensation pulses in response to the serial data signal delayed by the first and second delay amounts, respectively. The combiner combines the first and second compensation pulses with the main path delayed serial data signal, where the first and second compensation pulses compensate for magnitude loss and nonlinear phase of the main path delayed serial data signal.

Device and method compensating for edge distortions of serial data signal

A voltage probe includes a first signal lead configured to receive a first signal from a device under test, a first probe-tip network that is coupled to the first signal lead and that has a frequency response that includes a first transmission zero, a first compensation network that is coupled to the first probe-tip network and that has a frequency response that includes a first transmission pole, a second signal lead configured to receive a second signal from the device under test, a second probe-tip network that is coupled to the second signal lead and that has a frequency response that includes a second transmission zero, a second compensation network that is coupled to the second probe-tip network and that has a frequency response that includes a second transmission pole, and a differential amplifier circuit that is coupled to the first compensation network and to the second compensation network, and that is configured to provide a third signal that is responsive to the first signal and to the second signal. Methods and other systems for providing electrical connections to devices under test are disclosed.
