A process and an apparatus for imparting coloration to a glass container having a strikable glass container composition. One or more portions of the glass container are selectively and locally exposed to a temperature at or above a glass container striking temperature to affect a color change in the one or more portions of the glass container. The coloration process may be carried out by passing the glass container through an interior of an apparatus having a heating system configured to locally heat a first region within the interior to a temperature at or above a glass container striking temperature and a cooling system to locally cool a second region within the interior to a temperature below the glass container striking temperature.

Process and apparatus for coloring glass containers

A method of making a bottle includes (a) forming a parison, (b) blowing the parison into a bottle of one-piece integrally formed construction, and (c) during the step (a) and/or the step (b), forming internal features on a neck of the bottle. Step (c) includes (c1) forming external features on the neck during the step (a), (c2) pushing the external features into the neck during step (b), and forming the internal features to be disposed entirely within the neck where the neck widens and at positions spaced from an internal surface of a neck finish and not extending into a shoulder of the bottle.

Bottle neck with internal embossments and method manufacture

A closure inner shell includes an annular skirt extending axially from a base wall and having an external thread segment. The base wall may have a central passage and the skirt may have circumferentially spaced petals. A closure outer shell may include a vented plug seal extending axially through the central passage of the inner shell, and an annular outer skirt to engage the petals of the inner shell and having an internal thread segment for threaded engagement with the external thread segment of the inner shell. A container may include a container neck bead for engagement with the petals, an inner annular sealing surface for engagement with the plug seal, and an inner annular relief to cooperate with the vented plug seal to establish a vent path.

Container, closure, and package

A bottle of one-piece integrally formed construction has a body with a closed base and a shoulder at an end of the body remote from the base, and a neck extending from the shoulder along an axis and terminating in a neck finish for attachment of a closure. The bottle neck includes at least one internal embossment for affecting flow of liquid from the body through the neck. In exemplary embodiments of the disclosure, the at least one internal embossment includes at least one internal annular rib or at least one internal rib coplanar with the neck axis or at least one internal spiral rib or at least one internal elliptical rib.

Container neck

A longneck glass or metal bottle of one-piece integrally formed construction has a body with a closed base and a shoulder at an end of the body remote from the base, and a neck extending from the shoulder along an axis and terminating in a neck finish for attachment of a closure. The bottle neck includes at least one internal embossment for affecting flow of liquid from the body through the neck. In exemplary embodiments of the disclosure, the at least one internal embossment includes at least one internal annular rib or at least one internal rib coplanar with the neck axis or at least one internal spiral rib or at least one internal elliptical rib.

Shuttle blow molding apparatus having an extruder or a blow head for substantially continuously emitting a thermoplastic material in tubular or parison form at a moldable temperature downwardly along a vertical axis. A finite length of the thermoplastic material is grasped by a first mold set, which then moves downwardly with respect to the extruder or blow head to provide clearance for a second mold set to move to a position to grasp a second finite length of the emitted thermoplastic. The first mold set is then moved horizontally away to permit the emitted thermoplastic length therein to be blown into a hollow article, and thereafter removed from the first mold set that is permitted to return and engage an other finite length of the thermoplastic material. The second mold set follows the first mold set in a path of travel traced by the first mold set. A single in-mold labelling device can be provided to sequentially apply labels to the interior of the mold sets, while the mold sets are open, for application to the articles being blown in the mold sets.
