A wet shaving cartridge is provided having a housing having a guard located at a front end of the housing and a cap located at a rear end of the housing. The cartridge further has two or more elongate blades located between the guard and cap and extending in a direction substantially parallel to a length of the guard, wherein edges of the respective blades lie in a shaving plane extending between the guard and the cap. A shaving aid retention member is located in the cap. The retention member has a base arranged to receive a shaving aid and a front wall located at a side of the retention member adjacent the blades. The front wall extends from the base of the retention member towards the shaving plane.

A razor cartridge which has a housing with a pocket defined by a front wall and a rear wall. The pocket has a seat surface and at least one of the front and rear walls include one or more flexible segments. One or more blades are mounted within the housing. An elongated skin contacting member is provided that comprises a shaving aid composite that has one or more water-leachable shaving aid materials. The elongated skin contacting member has a body portion with an upper skin contacting surface and a base portion which is disposed at least partially within the pocket. The base portion has a bottom surface spaced apart from the seat surface. The base portion extends laterally outwardly from the body portion and is in mechanical engagement with the one or more flexible segments to secure the skin contacting member to the housing.

Shaving aid strip for razor cartridge

The present invention is directed to a solid polymeric shaving aid strip for a razor cartridge. The shaving aid strip comprises a lubricious water-soluble polymer and a polycaprolactone, and optionally a water-insoluble polymer. It has been found that polycaprolactone improves the fabrication of the shaving aid strip, provides smoother strip surfaces and permits the inclusion of greater amounts of water-soluble polymer in the strip. It has also been found that a shaving aid strip which contains polycaprolactone releases more shaving aid during use and has better structural integrity and less swelling. The present invention is also directed to a razor cartridge which includes the aforementioned shaving aid strip.

The present invention is directed to a razor cartridge with a solid polymeric shaving aid strip. The razor cartridge has a blade (one or more) and a skin-engaging portion in proximity to the blade. The skin-engaging portion includes a solid polymeric shaving aid strip having an upper exposed surface which contacts the skin during shaving. The shaving aid strip includes a first exposed lengthwise-extending portion containing a lubricious water-soluble polymer and an adjacent, second exposed lengthwise-extending portion containing a lubricious water-soluble polymer. The first portion contains a greater amount of the lubricious water-soluble polymer than the second portion, and the first portion is adapted to wear at a faster rate than the second portion during shaving. This construction enables the strip to release more of the lubricious water-soluble polymer for a longer time period (i.e., for more shaves) than conventional shaving aid strips.

The present invention relates to razor blade cutting edges which exhibit an improvement in the first shave. Conventional razor blade cutting edges exhibit surprisingly high initial cutting forces. Razor blades produced according to the present process exhibit significantly lower initial cutting forces which correlates with a more comfortable first shave. Improved blades according to the present invention involve treating conventional razor blade cutting edges having an adherent polyfluorocarbon coating with a solvent to partially remove some of the coating. Preferred solvents include perfluoroalkanes, perfluorocycloalkanes, perfluoropolyethers having a critical temperature or boiling point above the dissolution temperature for the polyfluorocarbon in the solvent. The present invention also relates to the method of producing these razor blade cutting edges.

A finger-manipulated article (e.g., a pen) includes a foam grip. The foam preferably is made from a foamable polyurethane prepolymer and a filler, or a latex, or both. The preferred foam has a recovery rate of less than 5 cm per minute. The foam may include a surface coating on its outer surface.
